As themes for X Factor weeks go, ‘movie week’ was as flimsy as one of Dannii Minogue’s gowns, with judges bickering over what counted as a song from a movie and what didn’t. "I don’t know the movie it’s from and you’re cheating again Simon" trilled Louis Walsh after Jamie Archer sang ‘Crying’ from indie-flick Gummo. Not that it mattered, as Jamie was hardly the week’s talking point - other than for people to say it’s probably about time he packed up his gigantic afro and toddled off home.

But if picking a song from a movie about glue sniffing and teenage transvestites wasn’t random enough, Welsh beauty Lucie Jones plucked a track from Disney’s relatively unknown High School Musical knock-off, Camp Rock. Joe McElderry also sang ‘Circle of Life’ from The Lion King and the entire show was dominated by continual references to the contestants' outing to the movie premiere for Disney’s A Christmas Carol. It’s advertising that money just can’t buy - or rather, it’s advertising that only an international behemoth like Disney can buy. All in all, it was less subtle than being repeatedly punched in the face by a man in a 6-foot Mickey Mouse costume screaming: "GO AND SEE THE RUDDY MOVIE."

Now back to the singing. Stacey Solomon’s ‘Son of a Preacher Man’ was as boring as a morning in church and Olly Murs appeared to be morphing into papier-mâché comedian Frank Sidebottom in his ‘Twist And Shout’ routine. Danyl Johnson tried to win over the public with his newly cropped hair in a typically irritating ‘Purple Rain’ performance and poor little Lloyd Daniels continued to flounder with ‘Stand By Me’. Simon and Louis commented that Lloyd was out of his depth - making the music mogul duo the pair of hungry sharks circling the struggling Welsh teenager.

And what of the twins? Having turned being unpopular and rubbish into an art form, John and Edward’s terrible performance of the Ghostbusters theme tune was, as always, the evening’s most entertaining moment. Costumes, ghosts and a giant cardboard car - the only trick they missed was not changing the lyrics to "Who you gonna call? John and Edward!"

This year’s voting trends have been wildly unpredictable, (boo hoo hoo Rachel Adedeji) so anyone could end up in this week’s sing-off, but we’d recommend Jamie, Stacey and Lloyd leave an open suitcase on the bed before Sunday night’s results show.

This shows just how stupid and thick the great British public really are. Can you not see the winner is already picked out, and has been since the end of the auditions. Its a rip off and an insult. It Costs a pound to everyone who is foolish enough to vote when the votes are not even counted,and how many million vote each week, come on, do the maths. Its whatever Simon and Louis want, and thats the end of it. All comes down to money and STUFF the talent. Those so called Jedward has proved that. Two great talented singers lives ruined because of greed. Who will be next. DO NOT WATCH IT ANYMORE AND LET THEM LOSE MILLIONS INSTEAD OF EARNING IT. I think Simon or Louis should offer Lucy and Rachel a record deal for the agony they have caused and because they are true artists.

i dont think simon's descision to keep the twins in has done any good for the show whatsoever, he showed his dislike week in week out for the guys and when he had the opportunity to get rid he bottled.....i think viewers ratings will be well down next week,as the public have realised what a fix the whole show is...my tv will be tuned in elsewhere next weekend for sure

This year I think Danni is the only judge who has been fair and frank in her comments about the acts. She has been constructive and open about her views and follows any negative comment with a genuine reason for that comment. Unlike Simon and Louis who are like 2 schoolboys in the playground trying to outdo the other.

What was Louis on last night. Firstly he calls Simon a cheat because he didn't know the film a song came from. Then he has a go at Joe saying he's musical theatre, not a pop star (John and Edward are I suppose. I don't think) Then he has a go at Dermot for having an opinion not shared by him (I'm a judge. Could have fooled me). Then he states quite seriously that he could imagine hearing J and E on the radio. (Without all of the added singers and dancers presumably). Apart from John and Edward, who should have gone weeks ago, I think it's about time Louis got his marching orders.

Before this year's series started I remember saying I would always watch X Factor over Strictly but to be honest this year has turned me off altogether. It is just a money making machine and the interplay between the judges each week is wearing too thin and I just find it irritating. Since the other judges comment on the song choices just before the act goes on, they all know about it already so why they have to make such a big deal after they have performed, I don't know. Too much hype generally this year in the media is just adding to the frenzy and I feel sorry for the contestants now and dislike the behaviour of the judges. The twins look like they are here to stay which makes a mockery of the show anyway but since it seems to be young girls to whom they are appealing, one can only think they are the main people voting and the comments from the judges and the media is just feeding that.
