This Morning: Fern and Phil interview Peter Andre

Fern Britton’s penultimate day on This Morning saw her faced with that age-old interviewer’s dilemma: how do you get your celebrity guest to talk about personal issues when they’re only there to talk about their latest project? Today’s guest? Peter Andre - eager to reveal all about his new album and not-so-eager to reveal anything about his recent break-up with Katie Price.

Still, Fern and her trusty sidekick Phillip Schofield being the consummate professionals, it took them approximately 30 seconds to get round to mentioning the elephant in the room - using their tried-and-tested “good cop, equally good cop” routine.

Pete’s response? “I hope you understand I‘ve purposely not spoken about this for a reason. I’m between a rock and a hard place. When I don’t speak, you only hear one side of the story. Right now, it would benefit me to speak - and there are lots of things I want to say. But long-term, I know the kids are going to grow up and look back on everything, so I’m trying my best for them.”

Poor Pete was visibly shaking throughout the interview - and looked a bit tearful at times. Possibly the most awkward moment came when Fern asked him whether it was Katie’s recent miscarriage that had led to the collapse of their marriage. “There’s more than one reason,” Pete told her. “There are more than five reasons.”

And does he now regret the amount of exposure his family have had in their various reality shows? “Making your life so public is a mistake sometimes,” Pete admitted. “I’m partly to blame for that.” Still, as Fern and Phil noted, Pete is still being followed round by the ITV2 film crew right now. In fact, there was someone in the studio filming Pete being filmed by the This Morning team. Insania!

Anyway, Pete did eventually get to talk about his music - the new single ‘Behind Closed Doors’ is available to download from 10 August, pop fans - before he was whisked away to rustle up some scones with Fern’s husband, celebrity chef Phil Vickery. Pete completists may be interested to learn that he needed a bit of help with his mixing, but he was very good at rolling out the pastry. You read it here first!

Rock and roll Pete!! thats a laugh. The cheesy lyrics on his new tracks show he planned to dump her ages ago.And she financed it all.
He says he's worried about his kids if they later read that he has critisised their mother. Fern and Phil should have pushed him on this, and asked what the kids will think of their disgusting sexualised behaviour on their reality shows.
I'd love to see him in the same room as the Oasis brothers. They would tear him apart. Now that IS rock and roll.
He is creepy and OTT with his 'mr nice guy' image.

Me again. By the way him having plastic surgery himself (nose job), shows he is as bad as she is. Money does not ensure true friendships or love. Ultimately both will grow old and sad, still chasing eternal youth and money.
He will do the rounds of all the naff shows trying to sell his records, and himself as a loving, caring, father figure. I feel physically sick just listening to him. How did she fall for it?
She should have let him go back to waiting on tables and working in a gym, like the failed hasbeen he really is.

How come he is so worried about what his kids will read when they are older if he slates their mother. Fern or Philip should have asked why he doesn't care that they will see the disgusting sexualised behaviour he and Kate displayed constantly. He is a phoney and would have disappeared into oblivion after the jungle as do all the other 'c' listers.
He planned all this a long time ago to publicise his 'musical career'. Some of the stupid cheesy lyrics give the game away.
Her money financed his expensive production costs in LA and he was biding his time ensuring financial security. OMG he even had a camera team following him around (his choice)whilst on This Morning!!
I'd love to see him in a face off with the Oasis boys. They would so tear him apart. But then again, he now has 'bodyguards', hangerson of his own to suck up to him, so he would be protected. Good ridance, she should have seen it coming and dumped him first.

You only had to watch their last couple of stateside programs to see the Katie was on a back foot with Pete. Her body language showed she was being bullied by him, and she looked genuinely sad. He has planned the whole thing for his own end. Maybe keeping the miscarriage a secret was to make him look less of a rat. I'm sure he would have been talking about it on TV if they still had been together. People are like sheep, they just go along with the newspapers when somebody is getting dumped on from a very great height. They seem to forget she is a mother, who needs to keep her head going through lots of hurt. Leave her alone.

I don't understand why people think that Peter would be nothing without Katie, Katie/Jordan was only famous for getting drunk and getting her breasts out before she met Peter. They became famous together after the jungle. I have met Pete on a Emirates flight to Dubai and I must say he was lovely, and real people's person.

the trouble is they have everything and financially are set up for life and they deserve it. but the problem is they have nothing to work for and most of us look forward to 1 holiday a year if we are lucky! and what they have everyday in their lifes some people dont have in a lifetime. this is where i think the problem is. kate is a selfish person who wants the world to know what she has got financially and is a complete show off. and pete is so controlling of her. both grow up set your kids the right example and learn and move on from it. try living your life instead of showing the world what you have. without your family and home life you have nothing! kate wants both the family life and single life and pete wants her to be the wife at home.pete you knew what she was b4 you married her a complete show off who liked to show off her boobs and her sexuality.thats fine but honestly you did not think you could change her did you? and pete trying to change someone is not fair and you have no right. i think katie is a comlete flirt but no cheat. and kate one day you might relise that there should come a point where flashing your boobs has become boring but thats for you to deside. wish you both luck.x

I think Pete is cruel, it has always been clear that Katie never wanted this split, marriage is hard work and takes commitment to work through the bad times and he wasn't even prepared to try. He walked out on his wife following a miscarriage, something I find unforgivable and if he loves his existing children as much as he claims then I fail to see how he could have destroyed their security and stability by leaving so easily. I think he is extremely selfish, because Katie didn't 'do as she was told' he goes off to promote his single...while single, funny that, he needs to remember, there would be no single were it not for her.

Peter looked hot today, but needs to put some weight back on. Whatever his reasons for keeping quiet (to gain public adoration or not) he is being dignified and gentlemanly by not bad mouthing his wife.He is right to think of his children, they won't thank him for slagging of their mun in years to come when they read all the press coverage. Pete do not give up what you have been working on, no not give her the pleasure. She is negative and does not have the talent that you were born with; that is why I feel her wanted to split. Thinking everyone was going to be all over her, well she is wrong because we are on your side. We all know what a great father to all three children. She does not have a clue what she has done to you and the children. At least the children can be proud of their Dad, as she will have a lot of explaining to do when they grow up?

Bless you as the father will keep you and the children safe always stay focus Pete on your album and singing, don't let the press hound you, she lives for that but not for long which is sad!

just to let you know, that time really does heal, i got custody of my son Philip when he was only 3-4 years old and struggled mostly financially to keep a job down and whilst singing in bands at weekends, he has turned out to be a well adjusted son , got to university and gained a B A HONOURS degree, and worked on films making the special effects for "Band of Brothers" Harry Potter, and Black Hawk down , and now works for an artist in Canada called Sid Dickens, i met a beautiful young girl who has since given me two more sons and am still singing at weekends. i have tried to like Katie but found she doesn't have any scruples, and says it how it is, which is fine if you are in private or close friends company, and she is so embarrassing. i watch you squirm at some of her interviews, you are very lucky financially, and you have beautiful children, always remember to put them first, i did and have wonderful results, good luck with the new album, i would love to sing with you on the next, respect, and stay humble, Barry Jones

The sooner the craze for fly on the wall documentaries into the lives of people you would never want to spend any time with but who are masquerading as celebrities is over the better. What's next - Kate And Peter The Stateside Reunion? Perhaps a glossy magazine will give us the in depth account on the next pair of dreary, and / or unpleasant people and we can move on from this tiresome couple. Pete, I feel sorry for you, but please just go away and keep your lives to yourselves.

There are 2 sides to every story and whilst i am not in a position to apportion blame, I find it hard to believe how Katie can behave the way she is. Is this how a mother should behave. Its barely over and she is already wanting another man. When i hear comments like Katie has made Pete who he is , it makes me sick. Hear me and Hear me Good. Pete has displayed composure and a tight lip because he is thinking about the effect on the kids. Has Katie done the same? I am sorry but I have changed my views totally. Pete has just jumped on the bandwagon! It was Katie that got him the publicity behind his new album and without her he would not be as successful and popular as he is now. Funny how he leaves her once his album is all set up and finished! They have had these problems throughout their marriage and he has managed to cope then AND have 2 kids with her. He is jealous and insecure and had the opportunity to get help for this. As for Katie GOOD ON YOU for going on a girlie holiday and why shouldnt she? Why does this make her a bad mother? He was in Cyprus too on holiday but with his family so what? Katie has been a great success and will continue to be without Peter. As for the night out that allegedly broke the marriage, he WAS to be there too but decided not to go, so why should she not go out with her friend and his wife because he spits his dummy out! Pete has been seen out with many women since the split so does this make him a bad dad?? Move on Katie and carry on with your successful career and being a fantastic mother despite what anyone says!!!
