The best thing about Friday night TV? No, it's not Ugly Betty (way too schmaltzy - don't fall for it, kids!): it's Peep Show, the sitcom that never fails to make me feel great about my life. Why? Well, watching Jeremy and Mark bumble around in their bachelor flat, and fail miserably to look anything less than tragic, stops me feeling like an utter loser for starting my weekend on the sofa with a takeaway, rather than going to a nu-rave all-nighter in Shoreditch, or whatever it is you're supposed to do on Friday evenings nowadays...

Tonight's episode sees Mark forced to give a presentation at his company's annual conference - a scenario that's bound to strike fear into the hearts of every right-thinking person. If it goes well, he'll get promoted - but if it doesn't, he'll suffer instant demotion. Naturally, he decides to cope with the stress by insulting all his colleagues. Brilliant - that's exactly what I'd do in the same situation.

Ugly Betty is a pile of old poo - who really buys that tired old cliche about 'all that matters is being beautiful on the inside' anyway. Life ain't like that. Besides, step into any pub in Hoxton and you'll find women dressed like Betty - the 'charity box/so ugly I'm pretty' look has been the height of Shoreditch fashion for the past six or seven years.

I love Peep Show, but I'm not sure whether I identify with Mark (the one with huge eyes) or Jeremy (the studenty one)the most.

And why isn't Numberwang the gameshow filler before the Lottery draws?

I'm a mac!

Haven't the Peepsters got a film coming out soon? I'm sure I saw a trailer with them in it - something about chopping a woman's head off in a stage show. Twice.

As someone well used to the concept of making a den in the lounge out of two chairs, a duvet and the sofa cushions, i can safely say that Peep Show is the closest a supposedly fictional TV show has got to being an Actual Reflection Of My Life since Spaced. That said, let it be known that I have not slept with my flatmate's girlfriend's mum. Yet.

Good to have them back. Makes a change from those sodding PC/Mac ads that were just a bit too smug. Last week's Peep Show - when they went to stay with Mark's in-laws-to-be made me laugh out loud. And that's a rare thing indeed.

I've just started my weekend by insulting one of my colleagues. Do I win a prize?

Ugly Betty is brilliant, what are talking about?

Hmmm - beers after work or must-see Peep Show? It's a tough one but I can't bring myself to miss it! This calls for double-fast drinking...
