who gives up playing at first united , for real madrid and then worse still goes to play for some crap yank team just so he can get paid a ridiculous amount of money for a year and then whine sayin he wants to stay at milan!!!!

Your list of the greatest football mercenaries of all time simply confirms what sensible people have known for some time now - and that is (with a few noteable exceptions) there is no loyalty whatsoever in what used to be the beautiful (?) game. Only money matters, and the cases you quote are fine examples of this endless greed.

Steve McManaman for me. He strung Liverpool along for ages, saying he was going to sign a new deal, when they could have sold him for a fortune. He then walked out for free Kopping an enormous salary at Real Madrid while Liverpool got nothing.

COme on Hammy if you are managing in the lower leagues and you are offered a Premier League job you would take it. If you get offered a job at work in a bigger better dept would you turn it down????????

No one gets close to Anelka, Le Sulk, surely?

Am I stupid. I can't see this feature on your sport or football site?!

Ian Hollaway! The dishonesty he displayed before leaving Plymouth Argyle to go to that "bigger" club, Liecester City was astonidhing - poetic justice then to see him take Leicester down and get sacked!

Paul Ince takes it hands down. Judas.
