The Floyd who cried wolf...Your views

MayweatherSo Floyd Mayweather has announced his retirement from boxing. I’m feeling a sense of déjà vu. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that he has said this after each of his last three bouts yet still come back for more.

Apparently, this time he means it. I wouldn’t argue with him if I was in the same room as “Money” but as I type this thousands of miles away, I am brave enough to question whether this time he is actually telling the truth.

I would be very surprised if I never saw Mayweather back in the ring (and I’m not counting the circus of WWE). Perhaps it is a publicity stunt. Maybe Floyd has a trick up his sleeve. Either way, I don’t believe we have not seen the last of Mayweather in boxing.

He will probably pursue other interests over the next 12-months but he’ll soon get bored and that is when he will return to the setting which made him millions. After all, Mayweather can’t rob us all from a future mouth-watering contest against Miguel Cotto. Unless of course he's scared?

With Mayweather expected to have fought Oscar De La Hoya in a rematch in September, Ricky Hatton’s name has now been thrown into the hat to fight “The Golden Boy”.

This fight though could come too soon for Hatton who is still recovering from the beating he took from Mayweather six months ago. De La Hoya has a weight advantage over “The Hitman” and while this superfight would attract much interest, Hatton could soon follow Mayweather into ‘retirement’.

Do you think we’ve seen the last of Floyd? Is he talking rubbish or has he really retired for good? What do you think would happen if Hatton faced De La Hoya in September? Leave your comments in the boxes below.

mayweather.....waits..and then will destroy..all in his path......there after....!!!

If Ricky Hatton steps into the ring with de la hoya....it will be his last fight..de la hoya is looking for a last fight of note...and worn out Hatton..is his target

hatton is good, but not good enougth to beat de la hoya!!! He should bow out gracefully..

hatton should avoid de la hoya as he struggles against naturaly bigger men and it would be loss number two for the hitman if he fights him at a catch weight as is being reported in the press. unless de la hoya can get down to light welter then hatton would have a chance as thats his best weight. as for floyd he should retire and enjoy being one of the few boxers to retire undefeated and at the top of the tree

Mayweather will be back for the money afterall that is his nickname! I think Hatton would beat De la Hoya though that would be an amazing fight.
