United win title... Your view
Well, thank goodness for that. Beauty eventually saw off the beast as Manchester United deservedly clinched their 17th league title with a 2-0 victory over Wigan.
They've been by far the best team in the league, but pragmatic, uninspiring Chelsea's never-say-die attitude ensured real excitement until the final day.
It was fitting that Cristiano Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs should score the goals and even more apt that the Blues completed the season with another stodgy display, the like of which regular Premier League viewers will have become bored.
It's a dreadful shame Reading have succumbed to the drop. In Steve Coppell, they have one of the very few - if not the only - Premier League manager who remains dignified at all times, speaks with sense and honesty, doesn't engage in ridiculous tittle-tattle in the media and chooses not to blame every referee for his side's defeats. Hopefully, The Royals will be back.
Kevin Keegan may have picked the wrong word in 'boring' to describe the top flight. Nobody could possibly argue that the run-in has produced anything other than thrilling entertainment. What he should have said was 'predictable'; let's hope next season can throw up a few more surprises, but don't hold your breath.

That Bobby Bigballs bloke doesn't know what he's talking about obviously - what a plonker.
Sounds like a southern gay Arsenal fan to me.
LFCGUY - looks like you and Bobby should meet up - he's got Bigballs so you'll love him.

Hey 'Bobby Bigballs' are you one of those chelsea fans that left the match early after United scored their second goal? I say this because otherwise you would have realised that Chelsea did NOT win their match (Bolton equalised with a late goal) - so as well as the goal difference we also had TWO MORE points than Chelsea at the end of the match.

Hi Wiganer - I wasn't able to match much of the match but I saw the BBC analysis and it was their pundits who pointed out that both sides had equal 'luck' or otherwise with the ref. Anyway I won't labour the point only to say that Wigan played very well indeed and give us United fans a tense 90 mins. :)

Anybody would think it was a good win - they only got it on goal difference - big deal they are all a load of cheats - the ref on their side as usual - money talks.

Lucky United again - I'm sure they buy the refs off. That was never a penalty. They wont win it next year and also Chelsea will win the Champions league.

another look after manchester united game dont expect any different hope keith hackett has a look at it. rio hand ball incident and scholes say no more .our game is not straight across the board .one rule for one, one for the rest

Phil Lewis, you're having a laugh. I was at the game and no way did the ref give as many decisions Wigan's way as United got and especially the "big" decisions. Even Sir Alex said afterwards that Scholes rode his luck with the second challenge!
Well done on winning the title, but take your United tinted glasses off and give us some credit and accept that the ref helped you out today!

It was a blessing that "little" Wigan didn't have premier league survival riding on this game as Mr Bennett handed the game to United. Three awful first half decisions all wrong - Ferdinand handball, no penalty given; Scholes' two bookable offences no second yellow card given; a dive in the box and a penalty given to United!
Yes, United probably deserved to win the title over the course of the season and Chelsea's result meant it was probably irrelevent but Wigan deserved more out of this game
One big decision wrong in favour of the "big" team can be put down to human error, two wrong is a bad day at the office but three wrong really stinks of bias and the referee sould hang his head in shame! An even handed referee and an otherwise pulsating fairly even game could have taken the title even closer to the wire!

As it happens Man United had at least as many refereeing decisions go against them in this match. As for the other 37 I have not tallied them up but I am hardly to believe the outrageous claims of a Masn United basher who couldn't accurately report the refereeing decisions at a match that only finished little more than an hour ago. All the real football experts agree that Man United DESERVED the title and we should be gratefull it didn't go to a pedestrian 'play it safe' team like Chelsea who's football style would make a good cure for insomnia.

what the biased orange editor forgets to mention is that utd were assisted (for the 38th time this season) by a corrupt referee who bottled out of giving any decision against the evil reds , scholes - no red card , wigan - no penalty given for , but the ref has no hesitation in giving the red mob a penalty for a Roon-aldo type dive.
These decisions yet again (like the previous 37 matches) sway the match in favour of the evil reds , and end up winning the league as a direct result - its no wonder people say the prem is boring when the evil red mob consistently win assisted by bent refereeing and are rewarded for their arrogance/poor sportsmanship/ cheating with the prem trophy.
its understandable real fans become disillusioned with seeing their team not win as a result of playing fair, when others get rewarded for cheating,- today's a poor day for the game of football.
