Chelsea shunned in team of year
So now we know...Chelsea's costly array of super-stars aren't rated by their peers at other clubs.
Not a single Blues player has made it into the PFA Premier League Team of the Year even though the club is still in running for the title and for Champions League glory.
The line-up, voted for by every player in the division, is as follows: David James (Portsmouth), Bacary Sagna (Arsenal), Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd), Nemanja Vidic (Man Utd), Gael Clichy (Arsenal), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal), Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd), Ashley Young (Aston Villa), Emmanuel Adebayor (Arsenal), Fernando Torres (Liverpool).
Only four players - Ferdinand, Vidic, Ronaldo and Gerrard - have survived from the 2007 team that included Chelsea's Didier Drogba and a total of eight Manchester United players.
This time round only three United players are included, which no doubt hasn't gone down too well around Old Trafford.
But it's at Stamford Bridge where there are most rumblings of discontent. Blues fans are miffed because there's no place for the likes of Drogba, Joe Cole, Petr Cech or Michael Essien.
However, it's all smiles at Villa Park following the recognition of Ashley Young's rapid development under the guidance of Martin O'Neill.
What do you think of the Team of the Year? Should Drogba, Essien or Cole have made it? And is Ashley Young really that good? Have your say via the boxes below.

no chelsea players thats because they cheat and most people think they are scum.

2 words for you
TYRONE MEARS
now thats a right back
also andy todd and darren moore need mentions as the worst players ever in the premiership. im a derby fan and when i see their names on the team sheet i have a giggle and cant wait to see the highlights of them falling over and generally being rubbish

Ronaldo does go over too easily sometimes but Drogba is in a class of his own. He continually tries to get other players carded. The sad thing is he doesn't need to. He is good but I can't stand him and if I was Grant I'd sell him on. He taints all the other Chelsea players.

I think that the team should have no cheats in it even if ronaldo is that good. Players like Walcott and Owen who have just got into form should get in aswell. Also were are Bentley and Barry. Young should go and Bentley should come in and also Rooney should be in as he is brilliant.

Well I think the Arsenal 11 are the best especially if there are no nasty english chaps in the team - Walcott - such a brute!

Buzzinator, what are you talking about, Drogba is world class... ok so he does go over easy but have you had a look at Ronaldo lately? He's the biggest diver by far and and I dont see old red nose kicking him out.
To make matters worse how can a proven diver/cheater such as Ronaldo win the PFA award again, this is a farce as is the so called premier league team.

has any of you chelsea supporters thought hmm those people might have looked at players who DONT cheat which then excludes the chelsea squad and especially drogba.
people say how strong and powerful he is...hes a cheating diver, e.g. saturdays match against man utd watch the replay of him when he knees vidic in the face, before hes realized what hes done he is half way through a dive screaming when he was the 1 that did the challenge! seriously only a ponse like jose moriniho would have played him or a push over like avram grant. if he was doing that at Man u or Aston villa or Everton he would be out hes a cheat and your in denial if you think he isnt, even chelsea fan must agree that drogba is a diver therfore not making him a good player or a strong or powerful one!

having read posts in other catagories,I can see that lots of other teams fans would have CHELSEA players win something rather than manu or arsenal or liverpool come to that. Its polls like these that antagonise fans and players alike and i'm sure they do them just to upset the apple cart....

Posted by: Pradip | 28 April 2008 at 17:40
why was michael essien not on it, are people stupid or something he is one of the world top players!
Posted by: | 28 April 2008 at 16:47
its not because they aint good enough, drogba, joe cole and essien are great players but it doesnt help them that no 1 likes chelsea!!
Posted by: Carl | 28 April 2008 at 14:52
I can't belive no derby players were included in this poll...
Posted by: henz73 | 28 April 2008 at 13:12
It's a disgrace..what's adebayor done? he bottled it and couldn't hit a barn door when it came to the crunch. still, we'll win the awrds that matter - title and Champs lge
