From the Touchlines: Transfer gossip

Evans_27march_pa_200New Zealand fly-half Nick Evans has started a bidding war for next season between Leicester and Harlequins, although the clubs will have to fork out £300,000 a year for his services.

Evans is seen as a back-up plan by the Tigers, who are still keen to secure the services of Juan Martin Hernandez, while Quins are desperately on the look-out for a world-class fly-half after Adrian Jarvis's recent move to Bristol.

Other All Blacks on the move include lock Ross Filipo, who is searching for a move to England, and Northampton Saints scrum-half Mark Robinson, who Wasps have been tipped to snap up. In the final bit of transfer gossip this week, Wallaby Rocky Elsom's big-money move to Leicester now looks dead and buried because of his ever-increasing wage demands.

Do you have any gossip from your club or is there a player you'd like to sign? We want to hear your rumours and comments so post below...

All too rough for me.

£300,000 a year?! Seems a bargain when you think there are footballers getting paid half of that in a week.

OUTRAGEOUS!

To my mind, Saints appear to have snapped up some of the best players around if the transfer rumours are to be believed although losing Mark Robinson's a blow. Don't imagine they'll get relegated on their return to the Premiership. I reckon that'll be a fight between Bristol and Worcester.

Wud luv to see Daniel Carter in the Premiership. That boys a legend...

GOOD RIDANCE TO JARVIS!
On his day, he was good but too often he let us down.
Can think of four home games we should have won and would have won with a better goalkicker on board.

The Evans chat's all dependent on what Daniel Carter does, that's what mates of mine down under are saying. If Carter heads to Europe (French clubs have been sniffing around) then Evans will stay put as it'll guarantee him a place in the All Blacks starting XV. But if Carter stays put then Evans will definitely make the move to the UK. If Quins get him they'll be right up, he's truly, truly world class.

Forget about transfer gossip. What about Brian Ashton and the craziness going on at RFU HQ. Makes our game look a joke!!!!!!!!

Can't see why Evans would want to swaps his comfy life in New Zealand for Quins. they're not even that great a side. and the tighers can't be that interested in him. sounds like a stupid rumour set up by an agent looking for an improved contract for his player. but quins clearly have a new fly-half in mind or else they wldn't have let jarvis go to the west country quite so easily. no idea who... sorry?!

How is it that players can be paid £300,000 a year and yet Premiership clubs still keep within the wage cap. That just doesn't make any sense at all. Someone's telling porkies somewhere.
