Burlington Bertie... The misery continues
"I can't see Denman beating Kauto Star..." The fateful words I uttered this time yesterday! What was I thinking? Denman was in awesome form; sadly I wasn't.
Group Captain was never in the mix in the 1.05pm while County Zen finished adrift in a different county to the leaders 35 minutes later. Middleton Dene put up a braver fight in the 2.50pm, but still didn't really threaten the each-way spots before Halcon was just edged out into fourth in the Gold Cup. My best result was Franchoek in the 2.15 but he was well beaten into second by Celestial Halo. All in all, diddly squat, nothing, zilch.
But it's a new day and, therefore, fresh hope of success. I've picked out three from racing at Uttoxeter, Lingfield and Newcastle.
My top tip for the day is Prideus in the 1.50 at Uttoxeter. Ridden by Robert Thornton, this Irish mount is in great form. I'll slap a tenner on him at 3/1.
At Newcastle, I like the look of Star Beat in the 3.55. He won last time out at Doncaster and the ground will be more suited to him today. Another tenner at 3/1.
So, to Lingfield. Paco Boy is my selection here in the 2.40 after an impressive win at Newmarket in November. At 11/4, £10 will give me a decent return.
Here's a recap of my tips: Uttoxeter 1.50, Prideus £10win. Lingfield 2.40, Paco Boy £10win. Newcastle 3.55, Star Beat £10win.
Hope you enjoy the racing today and don't be scared to post your tips and your thoughts below.
Good luck!
