Orange Future of Football...Your view

Future'The Orange Future of Football Report 2008' produced in conjunction with 'The Future Laboratory' predicts revolutionary changes that are set to take place over the next 10-15 years.

Holographic fans, futuristic pitches, chameleon kits, robotic linesmen and television monitors at your match-day seat could all be set for 2020.

Can you imagine Wayne Rooney unleashing a verbal assault on a robot over an offside decision? Or how about popping to do the groceries at your club’s stadium which is where you are now residing? It sounds crazy but these are the ground-breaking plans that are set to change football forever.

Click here to read all about it and have you say on these wacky creations by adding your comments below. Do you have any mind-boggling thoughts on other ways that football will change the future?

I think these ideas are really goo and really could improve the game cause I'm a man u fan and against portsmouth that should've been a penalty and could've won us the game and roborefs wouldn't get it wrong.
I think people cheat at these games and should play it properly so this idea will enforce that making the game better and cleaner.

leave football alone. The game is alredy messed up with bad referees and linesmen. The atmosphere at a game wouldn't be as good, and the whole robotic idea is a waste of money! hibees!!

There's only one Aston Villa, one Aston Villa and I want Gareth Barry. yum yum!

Let those people who want to put even more control into our game of football go and play the game on their computers, leave your computers behind and go and watch a match, let off steam enjoy yourself, this is football it should entertain you all if it does not then stay at home and leave our beautiful but slighlty imperfect game alone, thats the problem too many ideas from too many places and the only thing that comes out of this is chaos as the result of interfereing with the offside rule shows quite clearly.leave the game alone, sack the old fogies at the FA and stop sacking managers, give people more time and chance to do their jobs,in the end no computers will be able to improve football,it is people who improve the game not machines

As my name suggests they missed a point(get it? I'm hilarious me). They could have mentioned technology in players boots to correct the direction of the ball and give more power or swerve or in goalie gloves to give spiderman like grip on the ball.

Hey i wouldlike to see more cameras. ie in the ball or on players, that would be awsome, i work in tech and trust me these cameras can get small and weigh nowt, awsome experience for the viewer, But Not Me as Im a season ticket holder im a great suppoter to my Club, keep up the good work Southgate

another thing boys and girls,
imagine the ticket prices,
who is going to pay for all of this? certainly cant see the chairman of our home club splashing the cash, can u for yours?

I Belive that scotland will win the world cup this year, and I like iron bru

I like the idea of robotic linesmen then they would brak down when it rains, then there will be a goal fest on both sides, now that i would pay to see.....

keep it simple and tough i say, like every English sport, hard and real.instead of Americising it all, Boro for the cup

what a rubbish idea itd make football rubbish too watch and boring because you cant shout at the ref

puttin robots an stuff like tha wud ruin da game. its the referees mistakes an if da ball went over da line or not jus addds to da game. puttin in robots wud mean we'd jus lose tha

Those who think we should turn football into a computer driven game with high technology cameras and monitors etc. are taking the human element out of the game.
Introducing playback would escalate and ruin all of the practical issues that make the game the time honoured success it is. Get a life and go to a game rather than sitting and watching it on the telly you boneheads.

Stop the moaning at referees, every decsion is moaned at. I'm bored and have lost interest in the moaning millionaires.

Stop paying, stop watching and then see how much they moan.

hi back again! also technology these days is not reliable, whats going to happen half way through the game when the lines man computer packs in blows up and kills one of the players with an elactric shock? OLD SCHOOL all the way, would be ok if it was rooney getting a shock to the gonads lol,

I agree with matthew and i think football should stay old school

i think the idea of having all this technology is stupid. if all this robotic linesman technology was incorporated, the world of football would be so much different. that is what makes football, contreversial decisions. im 15 and training to be a referee, would this also mean that we'd have 'robotic' linesman in park football. the aroma is a total waste of time and if you wanted to experience a stadium go to one instead of all this 3D rubbish! i think the idea of having sensors in players socks may be a good idea but i think it may take a lot longer to get used to!

i think that some of the ideas could really improve the game, like the linesman and the idea of microchipping players to indetnify divers. the aroma crap though really isnt worth the effort, why waste the money! use it on the ideas that could really benefit the game.

i think football should stay old school, we already have enough obese lines men as it is, hense the reason calling offside when the players blatenly aint. Come on the Boro!

Have you ever sat in a football ground?
