Keegan back from the dead!!!!
What the hell is going on at Newcastle????? Last week they sacked Allardyce, then they sniffed around "good ole" Harry Redknapp, next the media start suggesting Keegan might be interested in returning, three minutes later he is settling down in his old leather chair. Has the place gone mad???

Keegan is a legend at Newcastle both as player and manager and the club have once again pandered to the fans who chant stuff outside the ground. But this is not a wise move. Short term fix maybe, long term they'll be looking for a new boss come the 08/09 season and Keegan will be back on a Spanish golf course. One thing Keegan likes to do is walk out when he doesn't think he can cut the mustard.
Granted he'll try and bring back attacking entertaining football and he'll have the crowd's ear, but football and the players have moved on since Keegan's managerial glory days. The problem with Newcastle is the players; overpaid, underworked and choc full of a lazy "so what" attitude. Newcastle is rotten and I don't think Keegan's emotional managerial style will solve this. Keegan might sob into his pillow over a 1-0 defeat at Derby, most of the players won't. Unless he clears the decks and brings in his own players and has time to nurture them he might stand a chance, good thing the Newcastle board are fantastic at giving managers time to settle in ;)
I wish him all the best and I really hope I'm proved wrong, but I just can't see this working.
What do you think? Post your comments below.

I've got to say that I'm really pleased that Keegan has been given the managers job at Newcastle and I truly hope he succeeds. Newcastle is a club crying out for success. Its one of those teams whose results you look out for each week just like Man Utd. I think it will take time and he should be given that. He will need to get rid of some of the journeymen players at that club and bring in some of his own but what manager does not need to do the same when he takes over.
His first big problem is what to do with Barton. The boy is am an a------e who can play football. KK need to either turn this idiot the right way round quickly or make a statment to the others and get rid of him

Whatever anyone thinks of KK's return to the Toon we have to try and forget the past and make a judgement on his performance as the manager between now and the end of the season. My gut feeling is there will be no new signings. Ashley is guarding his investment, KK was an easy appointment by Ashley et al - remember no compensation needed. Allardyce was never the popular choice and was always on borrowed time - cheapest option was to get rid of him. This season is now over in real terms, though a relegation dogfight is still possible when you look at our next 6 fixtures. What price KK taking us back down to the next division??!!....

Kevin Keegan is a man who when things go wrong walks out, this is obvious as his record shows, the real fault with Newcastle is they have the same outlook as other once famous clubs like Wolves Leeds and even Tottenham Hotspur despite tonights great win against Arsenal, these once great clubs are relying on their pasts to see them through hard times,I have a feeling that the wrong people are in charge at boardroom level at Newcastle, throwing money around is not always the answer and as for what Alan Shearer can do for Newcastle remains a pipe dream for himself and also the fans.
teams need to be built slowly as Alex Ferguson did not really do well at first at Man Utd,so Sam Allardyce needed time to build also,he was not given it neither was Bobby Robson,Good Managers need time and Patience from the Boardroom first,It remains to be seen if Keegan has changed, and also that he his capable, I have my Doubts

They must have lost their marbles at Newcastle. Why would you employ a former manager whos greatest success was in losing the title race.Oh and lets not forget how well he done in charge of England. It will all end in tears for the fans yet again.Be gone within eighteen months

hahahahhahhahahahha, can only fail, miserably, and how the Boro will laugh!

Keegan says Newcastle is a special club - yes, but only in Newcastle!
For the rest of us Newcastle is a below average Premier club shooting well above their weight.
It will be interesting to watch, if only to see how long Keegan manages to last before taking the "hump" and going back to golf.
Necastle fans you are all in "cloud cuckoo land" yet again.

They must be joking! Keegan's last venture into management with Newcastle is about how he managed to throw away a title they should have won by a country mile. The man may be inspirational (short term) to players but he has the tactical nous of an ant.

i think it's excellent news for newcastle the man can movitate players which is what they need to get playing again and i think the keegan factor will bring attendances back up newcastle can only go up in my view with a new owner means there's money but i expect newcastle to be alot better in there matches comeing up granted it's not a quickfix that's why he has three yrear deal and for our blogger at the top he is quoted as saying he has unfinshished bussiness at newcastle and i believe he wil win something with them and i'd be happy with that the newscatle fans are great in my view so to the blogger at the top GET BEHIND THE TEAM they need support not moaning so three cheers for king kev who i hope prevails and bring sliverware and if i'm wrong and he is sacked next season then i will admit i was wrong but to the newscastle fans who read my comment GET BEHIND THE TEAM PLEASE

Hope he does well Keegan but we should have gone for Jose. Ashley your being influenced by the crowd hope you dont end up with egg on your face but think you just might.

Right!! Top flight footballers play about 50 games a year. That amounts to 90 x 50 = (4500 minutes) 75 hours a year ! That amounts to 10 weeks a year (out of 52!!). So at approx £130,000 a week, that's a cool £1.3 million a year plus sponsorship (for 'working' 10 weeks a year) so as an ordinary person, who the hell makes that in a lifetime, let alone one season !!!?? What's the cost of a ticket !!?? I leave it to you !!

He has left every club he has managed in a far superior state to what they were when he took over. He left a team at Newcastle that Dalglish took to second in the Premiership, which he then systematically dismantled to turn into a mid table team. The fantastic Stuart Pearce took over his mid-table Man City team and nearly got them relegated. Even at England he got us qualified for Euro 2000 after Hoddle shot himself in the foot, and even though we didn't get through the first round thanks to that knacker Phil Neville, who bizarrely still gets the odd game for England 8 years later, he did manage to get an England team to beat Germany for the first time in nearly 30 years.
My God Keegan has the temerity to RESIGN when he realises he can't make a team any better, instead of getting sacked and taking the cash!
Aye, Kevin Keegan, crap manager.

loving it!!
wud av loved Shearer more - but not enough managerial skills.
At least he has passion for the game! and not some hard to pronounce name from overseas!!!!

This is a shame. I like Keegan and he shouldn't have taken on this poison chalace. Newcastle is a mini England. They believe too much in their own press that they have such a great football history. What have they won in their history?? Oh thats right one cup. Sorry Kev you should have left them with the memories. Short term hero worship will give way to the realisation that they are a mid table side, always were and always will be.

Did you know that Keegan scrapped the reserve team the last time he was at Newcastle?
There was no player development, young lads had no way of getting in the first team.
Will the same happen again?

Let's face it guys...football is so boring to watch because of the overpaid, haiedressing culture ...oh what's his name,,,,ah yes, Ronaldo...oh sorry he flies for a living...!!!!! C'mon guys..they earn in a month than we do in two or three years....f.ck em!! Older style managers like, ....sh.t dare I say it but Ferguson!!! Old fashioned play football and be grateful for doing that !!! Her's to a new breed of averagely paid good footballers who don't mind getting dirty !!

Yes,KK WILL BE FULL OF ENTHUSIASM TO START WITH.
LETS HOPE HE CAN DO A GOOD JOB.
OWEN IS A SHADOW OF THE PLAYER HE WAS. DONT BE SURPRISED TO SEE HIM OFFLOADED JUST TO REDUCE THE WAGE BILL.
£130,000 A WEEK? COME ON, THIS IS JUST FOOTBALL GONE MAD!

A good story this one!
The truth is the owner didnt have a clue who to appoint, lets be honest!
Kevinloves the big entrance and all the fuss but is not so keen on a wet windy night away to Barnsley!
He is an attention seeker, he loves all that.
He will have millions to spend
Just keep an eye on the signings and see how many end up in the first team.
I saw a list of his signings from his first spell there and it was a tale of horrific spending with no return.
I hope the toon get everything they want, I honestly do.

Kevin will bring back the urgency in the players. We all work so much better for someone we like and respect so good for Kevin !!
Players.....earn your f...ing your money and be proud !!!!

Sums newcastle up all they will ever be is an OK premiership club, but WOW what a move they now have a manager who loves to spend more time on the golf course than Tiger woods ha.
Posted by: robbyrich | 16 January 2008 at 21:27
Bad move this one. KK will bottle it and do a runner again when things start to go pear shaped. He seems to have done it everywhere he's been so far.

How sad Newcastle panicking,
What a bad appointment as when the going gets tough kev will get going AGAIN, OR IS IT 3RD TIME LUCKY, l.m.a.o
only time will tell as this is the man who said im 1000% certain i would never return to newcastle, maybe he looked at big sam and thought easy money, work for a few months and get a few mill in the bank,
MY VERDICT....Newcastle to challenge for europe 2011
Posted by: big-ash dover | 16 January 2008 at 21:11
getin, come on the toon, watch out fergie!!!!!!
funny though keegan ruined our youth team, got rid of our big changing room and had a tiny little box room built for a changing room to make the team close!! guess what was knocked down during the off season last year and the players lounge was transformed into a big state of the art... changing room? money well spent?
Posted by: imernater | 16 January 2008 at 21:02
He too far out of touch. He will last till the end of the season get fired get a big fat pay off then be back on the golf course.
Not a bad way to top yer bank accout up.
