Keegan: The second coming

Keeganblog150x200actionimKevin Keegan is about to embark upon his second spell as Newcastle United manager, but amidst all the crazed Geordie devotion and hyperbole, the returning messiah has a tough job to do.

You can read Orange's opinion on what Keegan's first priorities should be right here. But we also want your views.Who should Keegan appoint on his coaching staff? Which players should be first out the door? Who should he buy? Whether you're die-hard black and white or of any other persuasion, let us know your thoughts using the boxes below.

Keegan back from the dead!!!!

What the hell is going on at Newcastle????? Last week they sacked Allardyce, then they sniffed around "good ole" Harry Redknapp, next the media start suggesting Keegan might be interested in returning, three minutes later he is settling down in his old leather chair. Has the place gone mad???

Keeganblog

Keegan is a legend at Newcastle both as player and manager and the club have once again pandered to the fans who chant stuff outside the ground. But this is not a wise move. Short term fix maybe, long term they'll be looking for a new boss come the 08/09 season and Keegan will be back on a Spanish golf course. One thing Keegan likes to do is walk out when he doesn't think he can cut the mustard.

Granted he'll try and bring back attacking entertaining football and he'll have the crowd's ear, but football and the players have moved on since Keegan's managerial glory days. The problem with Newcastle is the players; overpaid, underworked and choc full of a lazy "so what" attitude. Newcastle is rotten and I don't think Keegan's emotional managerial style will solve this. Keegan might sob into his pillow over a 1-0 defeat at Derby, most of the players won't. Unless he clears the decks and brings in his own players and has time to nurture them he might stand a chance, good thing the Newcastle board are fantastic at giving managers time to settle in ;)

I wish him all the best and I really hope I'm proved wrong, but I just can't see this working.

England's neglected mavericks... Your view

MatthewletissierTo celebrate Matthew Le Tissier's 40th birthday, we've selected nine other flair players who were cruelly and crazily ignored by a succession of England managers.

You can read all about them here and then tell us whether there are any others who should have played more often for England? Or you might argue that some of the list didn't deserve any more caps, based on their off-field behaviour. Whatever your opinion, let us have it using the boxes below.

England's Six Nations XV

Brian_ashton_170_2Brian Ashton has named his 32-man squad for the Six Nations as England look to continue their impressive form from the World Cup.

Phil Vickery will once again captain the side which has seen the likes of Olly Barkley, Josh Lewsey and Andy Farrell surprisingly axed.

With less than four weeks to go, we pick out our England XV to start the tournament which you can view here.

Do you disagree with our selection? We want to here you thoughts. Who would you pick if you were Brian Ashton? Let us know by adding you comments below.

Big Sam bites the bullet

Allardyce_blog

After weeks of speculation Sam Allardyce has become the eighth Premier League manager to leave his club and I must admit I'm stunned.

I really thought for the first time in ages they would stick with Allardyce, ignore all the "sack him" chatter and give him a bit of time to settle in and start making an impression.

The Magpies are 11th in the table and are hardly in any relegation danger but suddenly the club have dropped the bomb and given him the flick.......sorry he left by "mutual agreement". Total madness.

What is even madder is that Alan Shearer is the Toon fans' favourite to take over, a man with no club managerial experience. The club will leap from one frying pan into another. If they appoint Shearer he'll be out on his ear by the summer for finishing 11th, his legend status will be in tatters and the club will begin the hunt all over again.......tedious.

Newcastle United are a club weighed down by the very thing that makes them great - their fans. Their ridiculous expectation pressuries the club's board into far-too-regular kneejerk reactions. Here is a message for the blood-thirsty Toon Army: Your club is not a 'sleeping giant'. You've won no trophies in 52 years. Forget Jose Mourinho, you deserve Steve McClaren and his brolly.
