Result points to England
Well, well, a draw against Croatia and England qualify for next year's Euro 2008 finals and who knows a win isn't out of the question...
After results went England's way on Saturday Steve McClaren's bunch of under-achievers appear to have been given a golden opportunity (talk is it's worth upwards of £20million to the Football Association) to book their ticket to Austria and Switzerland.
Croatia have qualified whatever the result tonight at Wembley and if you really want to think about it, why should Slaven Bilic's boys want to finish top and avoid playing the likes of Greece, Austria and Switzerland?
I can you almost see the score-line now - England 1 Croatia 0 - plenty of huff and puff from England but little cutting edge upfront.
Remember how previously England have made hard work in previous encounters click here
Have your say on tonight's clash especially if you think England will freeze and we'll crash out at the final hurdle.

Let us not forget there were eleven grossly overpaid, under-achieving members of the England team out there last evening, so why sack just the manager - give them all the sack as none of them is pulling their weight.
I am not a fan of football, prefer rugby union myself, but felt I had to comment on the sacking of the England manager this time as this seems unfair to me.

Dire,is the word to use,too many foreign players in the premiership,i would like to see a cap put on foreign players so it only allows an english club to have 4 foreign players in the squad, also you can only have 3 of them on the pitch, and if you want to bring your remainging foreign player on you will have to substitute like for like.i think once this is addressed we can start to rebuild the domestic
football league and bring young players in who may not get a chance under the current situation,i would love to see a new ENGLISH manager.

How I agree with Paul Leetham comment-too many foreign players and managers in English football. No young english players being given the opportunity to play with clubs.a comment that was made to me was, in future times there will not be a national team because of all the foreign players.

well what can i say, it comes as no big suprise to see englands over paid, egotistic flops bow out of euro 2008.
You can blame the players and the whole management team till the sun dont shine but it is now time for the FA to shoulder a large proportion of the blame, after all, just like our government they have let too many foreign players into our clubs and shores, and this is where the problem lies.
Until this practise is curbed we will never see the England football team return to competitons and have any kind of success.

am i dreaming? is it really tomorrow? let's not all jump on steve's back. plan a was pretty solid, and we shouldn't hold him to task. we were messed up by plan b. andorra were well overdue to score that equalizer. it was them who messed up, not steve's valiant lions. one more chance, eh?

Replace the board at the FA and sack maclaren as he hasn`t got a clue, playing 4-5-1, should never have been given the job in the first place, complete joke, SACK HIM NOW

The country is on its knees. When the " English " team is " English " i might support our boys.
Look at the France national side for the England of tomorrow.
And still you dig your own graves , WHY ?
