i remember a football game called striker. you would position the player by the ball and then press ( or bash ) his head down to kick the ball. the hardest part was keeping the ball on the pitch and not breaking the players head,( a bit like real football today ).

Scalextric evolved into slot car racing 1/32 scale I did a lot of miles at weekends running cars against other (drivers) the club even appeared on TV great fun but alas money took over as ever and the hobby fell by the wayside; wages were not as big then and if you could afford a Pittman electric moter WOW!

Not only do I remember playing them 40 years ago, but I still have formula 1 and totopoly which my wife and I play regularly with our 11 year-old son. And what about Risk, years ago the cause of the outbreak of war between me and my older chidren. But wet sundays were always spent with 4 or 5 of my best friends playing Chartbuster, driving a Rolls Royce to perform at the London Paladium, earning loads a money and having a chart topping single to boot. And yes, we've still got it

Does anyone remember the horse racing version of scalextrix? There were three or four horses fixed to cars that ran in tunnels underneath the turf. To "jump" the fences you had to depress the plunger fully to reverse the current. Hours of fun! I can't remember what happened to the one we had, unfortunately its not hidden in the loft!

Anyone remember Arnold Palmer Pro Shot golf?
I was actually given Kevin Keegan's own set of this (he was a friend of my cousin) when he moved house back in the 1970s and had a clear-out - 11-year-old heaven!
There was a full size golf club with a little plastic man at the end ... a wire ran up inside the club, you pulled it and his little plastic arms spun round to hit a little plastic ball.
Plastic holes and bunkers just like the ones from Carpet Golf.
Couldn't have cared less at the time if it was any good - IT WAS KEVIN KEEGAN'S!

Although I played Subbuteo for years, it was of course only an imitation of New Footy which preceded it by several years. The two games were very similar but New Footy was the original and my first introduction to flicking football in the late 50s/early 60s.

Subbueto, Subbuteo, Subbuteo!!! What golden memories. Shame my older sister used to spend a lot of her adolsecence deliberately snapping my Villa players off their bases. We're still not speaking

How can I possibly forget the years of playing Subbuteo! I remember lashing out against the right winger from Norwich after he (my right index finger was obviously not responsible!) missed a sitter. I chucked him on the floor and dropped a full-size plastic football on his head as punishment. Thankfully, the teams contained substitutes! I think I took it a bit too seriously.
