Frank Lampard on... England v Germany
Hi! Frank here, welcome to my latest blog!
It might seem odd to people watching but, as a player, one minute you can be getting stuck in against an opponent in the Premiership and the next he's your international team-mate.
But that's just the way it goes in football and there's never any hard feelings. In fact, I'm really looking forward to the build-up to the Germany game - it's always good to see all the England guys.
Obviously I'm used to the club mentality at Chelsea but that type of approach has brushed off on England a bit - it's more club-like in terms of the camaraderie than it's ever been before.
I genuinely get on with everyone in the England set-up - they're a cracking bunch of lads and Steve McClaren ensures a good atmosphere throughout training.
Obviously I look forward to seeing the likes of Rio Ferdinand as he's still a close pal and we go way back from our West Ham days. He's one of the real characters in the squad but sometimes it's wise to avoid him and Wayne Rooney. They're the real mickey takers of the squad - a bit of a double act. You basically don't want to mess up in front of them or else you'll never hear the end of it.
Rio even tried to catch me out on one of his TV wind-ups. He'd got my girlfriend Elen in on it and the plan was for me to be shown up in a restaurant. She'd agreed to go along with it no problem and some guy was going to give me hassle but, thankfully for me, the restaurant wouldn't let them in and I escaped ok. Knowing Rio, though, there'll be other wind-ups. He's a good laugh.
Going back to England and Wednesday's game, pulling on an England shirt is the greatest honour there is for me as a player. It's a truly unbelievable feeling.
Added to that, it gives me the chance to play at Wembley again. I've already done that twice and it's a truly awesome stadium - there's few places to match it in the world right now.
The match might only be a friendly but it's all about getting us ready for the next Euro qualifiers. There's a lot of confidence in the England camp and we all still genuinely believe we'll making it through to the European Championships.
Steve's very thorough and he's pushed us hard in training, which is a good thing. I'm a big admirer of Steve, as I was of Sven, and the spirit right now is as good as I've ever known it. That's important when it comes to the crunch Euro qualifiers.
To get through and qualify for the tournament in Austria and Switzerland, we know what's needed. We know what we need to do and we need to be mentally strong as individuals and as a team. But I think we've got what it takes.

Frank,
What can I say!? I'm so proud of you tonight, I couldn't believe you stepped up today and I'm so speechless all i can say is congratulations!! When you were dedicating your goal to your beloved mother I started crying!
Everyone is so proud of your Frank, and everybody loves you and your family and especially, your mother. We all miss her dearly, and are so proud of you for what you have achieved.
Congratulations Frank, you earned it. x
Posted by: Shannon | 30 April 2008 at 23:39
Wow! It was a great semifinal and it was a very good idea for the soul of Chelsea to play. Your mother was lucky to have a son like you! No matter how hard it is, you must move on. If not for you, for her. Because she believed in you like nobody else. She was there, sunny or cold and her heart beated following the rythm of your heart. Never forget that. Never forget how proud she was of you!
We were all touched by your gesture, because it came naturaly, from a son's broken heart.
We must all thank her for everything she did for you to become this great player and human being!
R.I.P. Mrs. Pat Lampard!

Well, we all know by now that McLaren never had what it takes and it's a damn shame that the team had to take the fall because of him. I bet you were devastated but, at least, you'll have more time to rest and be on top form for your club. Honestly, Frank, I've never seen you play better or more aggressively. Good on you, lad! You've been a joy to watch. Clearly something's different about you and I don't just mean on a professional level. Whatever it is, it's great. Where's the shy, chubby, effeminate boy of the West Ham years disappeared to? It's been transformed into a strong, handsome and confident man and world class player. Congratulations!

Dear Frankie,
Your performance against Everton was nothing if not brilliant! Outstanding in every way! After such a performance, Abramovich, Kenyon and Grant should line up and kiss your beautiful, fleshy bum and beg you to stay. So should Steve -I'm bleeding idiot- McLaren.

Frank, you were brilliant against Man. City and Leicester! You're on top form and I hope and pray you'll stay healthy and fit for the rest of the season. Please, do something to stop rumours of your leaving Chelsea. You know I'm not a Chelsea fan, I've mentioned it before, but the point is, you should stay in England! It's so much part of who you are, you can't leave, you mustn't! It's one thing to live with a foreigner, speak a foreign language in your own home and give your daughters outrageous names and it's another to leave England altogether. You won't feel or perform the same anywhere else, I think you know that.

lamps, it's so great to learn of ur blog. I am ur strongest supporter, wherever u go. U've done brilliantly recently. Congratulations! It won't be too long before u become one of the top scorer of 100 for chelsea. are u leaving? I am very worried. Whatever ur decision, I'll support u and keep ur Lampard 8 Chelsea replica kit forever.

Welcome back!
Chelsea weren't the same without you. You played well and I relish the image of you as captain. I know injuries are a bad thing and you want JT to be fit and, frankly, so do I. It's just that I really do prefer you as captain.
I felt horrible seeing someone else in the number 8 England jersey, though. That shirt belongs to you. You were coming back anyway,so what was McLaren thinking giving it to someone else? Get it back, it's way too big for Sean, so are the boots.

What should Frank Lampard do right now after England's defeat?
First of all, don't blame his mates or his coach. The situation is how it is (terrible) and you need to be a team. Blaming each other won't help anyone.
Second of all, I believe you should help Steve Gerrard. It is obvious that he is in a bad shape. It will get worse. People will blame him for a lot of things and even if they are right, he is still a very good player and England needs him. You, better than anyone, know what it feels like to be held responsible for a performance. People have a twisted way of interpreting things. So, my naive opinion is that you, as a wonderful person what you are, should stick together with him. Great people do that. You will be surprised to find out how important it is for the other person to get your full support.
Posted by: Carmen | 19 October 2007 at 15:38
hey Lamps, great to see you back playing footie again. Bad result for England last night. Perhaps now everyone will see what a true prat Steve McClaren is for leaving you on the bench. Couldn`t believe you weren`t in the starting line up..again!! Midfield was weak, letting the russians break through a bit too much, as for Gerrard..how the hell did he miss that goal?? He was practically inside it, i could`ve done better! proves my point that he`s the most over-rated player in the premiership and deserves to be benched next time we play. Wonder if he`ll get booed by the so-called "fans"..somehow i think not, yet after that abysmal display, if anyone deserves it, he does. From what i`ve read in today`s papers and sport blogs, i`m not alone in that view either. Majority of people are very anti Gerrard, Rooney and McClaren and Barry today, saying that YOU should`ve been in the line-up from the start of the match!! Funny how people`s opinion changes isn`t it? You`ve been public enemy number one for some unexplainable reason for the last how many months? one thing`s for sure..you can tell when you don`t play. Midfield goes to pot. They`re questioning Gerrard`s "form" for England as i`m typing this on sky sports news. Time to stick him or Barry on the bench for England`s next game, even though we could`ve done with you on the pitch for the full 90 minutes last night, you`d of got that goal, no probs, even with your eyes shut!! As i said earlier, welcome back Frankie..it`s great to see you. lots of love xxx

Really Frank, you cannot be that sensitive to all the bad remarks. From outside you look like an arrogant person and player. From the inside, you are like a mimoza. It's completely prohibited to be like that. I am sure it is tough to act as you didn't care about the boos and other ugly stuff that occured latelly and still perform as nothing happened. You said you have no problem with that. Repeat that to yourself until it will be forgotten. There are other people who do not do that (underestimate you), people who appreciate your efforts and commitment to the national team.
Do you know the reason for which people act like that when you get on the pitch or touch the ball?! The reason is that people hate successful lads who work and have constant results. They get borred of the same faces in the end.
People love to criticise. Why?! Because it's in their nature. It does not matter whether you did it right or not, they always try to find something to complaint.
I saw the game, I read the newspapers and I continue to believe that you should have played from the very begining. Somebody else should have been dropped, instead. And that would have been impossible. My advice is to give your best everytime you are there, no matter if you play 5 or 90 minutes. Sometimes it takes seconds to score a goal and you are most capable of doing it. If I criticised you sometimes, it was because we like to see the best of you. Criticism is highly important for the progress. So turn these jeers, tears and fears into something else like self-motivation, self-belief, self-confidence, but most of all smiles on your and our faces. We find out that we can be stronger than we thought and more capable of fulfiling great hopes and expectations.
Take good care, because the Wednesday test might turn out even more difficult than everybody thought.

frank, pls take good care of yourself.. no matter wht decision u make, we will still support u always! stay happy always k! :)

gerrard?? who`s that then? soz, never heard of him! that was a BAD ref we had on sunday against man ure Lamps, 1 wrong deision is bad enough, but 3?!!! sorry, that`s just taking the *!$* a little bit. he deserves to be shot!! probably on Fergie`s payroll actually. not quite sure what to make of the new boss by the way, gonna take some time to get used to him i think, one thing for sure, he`s not a patch on T.S.O, but then again, what manager in the prem is? no-one comes close. just watching the liverscum..sorry..liverpool v reading game, reading have just scored their second goal, get in there!! ha! ha! i think, but i`m not sure that i`ve just seen someone named gerrard warming up. if it was him, i know who he is now, that REALLY overrated player who plays for England occasionly, when he an be bothered and hasn`t got a `toe injury`, mard arse! you managed to soldier on with your injury for ages Frankie, but that`s the difference in showing dedication to your country ain`t it? know you`re not playing tomorrow, but am really hoping for a win against Hull, we need one. hurry up back Lamps, we need some goals...and i need my fave boy back on the pitch to give me something to drool over!! get well soon, lots of love xxx
Posted by: lollipop | 25 September 2007 at 21:21
I see that the England team have had 2 inspirational performances ,with you Frank in your best position ,left back at home.!! You were probably still trying to 'have a shot' from there.
So now even you can see that you don't fit in with the rest of the team,so do the decent thing and hang up your boots.
What a partenership Barry and Gerrard could build up if mac and you do the right thing.

Oh Frank!
What is going on???what is happening in chelsea?
Why Jose is leaving chelsea?
I really can't belive he is going out?!?!? the news of his going comes as a bombshell!!!
who is this man Avram Grant???what does he do in chelsea???
why some blockhead people compare him with Jose???
Oh! I'm in blue and I am really anxious.
anyway... at last Roman Abramovich did everything he wanted.
Goodluck
hope to see you soon.
Posted by: Yasi | 21 September 2007 at 18:08
So, Jose is no longer the boss. I wonder if you saw that coming. Did he say anything to you, his favourite? Did he say good-bye or did he just drop the bomb? What does that mean, concerning your future and your place in the team? A change like that must keep you awake wondering.
I have it on the best authority that "the special one" left because of a life threatening health problem but he's too proud to reveal it; that's why he left so abruptly and without so much as a press conference or even a brief statement.
Chelsea will go on without him. I know you're not too fond of change and the injury keeping you away from the field, plus the problems with your contract, probably make you feel insecure but if so, remember: you are Frank Lampard, one of the best players in the world.

OMG Frank
I cant believe that Mourinho has left us. How are we goin to manage. We all know that whoever comes will not be able too follow in his footsteps quite so easily. Thanks to him and of course, the brilliant Chelsea team, out of the last 120 matches we have played we won 85, drew 25 and lost just 10!
OMG i'm still in shock. Lets just see what Avram Grant can do with us.
Hope to see you back out there soon

So they say that Chelsea is dependent on you. From the latest facts this is true. Due to your tight injury, Jose had to reconsider the team. A team that lost the their concentration latelly and had two draws at home, instead of two victories. I was expecting for the last night failure, because it was a failure to be held by a team like Rosenborg. But this is not the point here. The problem is that depending so much on you, the team cannot live without you. And I wonder "What's going to happen when you are back, not fully fit, or having some bad days? What is your coach's strategy with a Frank Lampard short of possibilities?" Most of all, Frank, what are you going to do to improve this situation? Are you strong and unselfish enough to help one of your mates to take your place when you are injured? During the last months we saw only a frustrated Frank Lampard, scoring goals, but not having fun while playing. My belief is that people miss that player. When was the last time you have smilled on the pitch?
You are living in your ivory tower, where Frank Lampard is untouchable. Believing that is not on your favour. Well, let me tell you something, you are not untouchable.
This criticism is meant to be constructive and it is just my humble opinion, what one sees from outside. From the inside things may be a little bit different, and not always right. Take care and get well as soon as possible! After all, Chelsea and your fans need you.
Posted by: Carmen | 19 September 2007 at 10:21
Dear Frankie,
I was horrified to hear of your injury, especially because that meant not playing for England. Barry did a hell of a job in your stead and I'm scared you might lose your place in the team, especially if you take into account that you're always the scapegoat for everything that goes wrong. England fans don't like you and, for the life of me, I can't understand why!I like Barry, he's a fine player, but it's you I want to see in the England shirt. You've done really well for the team and they barely acknowledge it. It's a shame.
Having said that, I need to tell you you were wrong to behave like you did at Anfield, after the (non-existent) penalty shot. You're better than that. I thought maybe you were taking out some of the frustration you felt after missing the penalty against Man.U. but, still, no excuse for a player of your calibre. People who love you and respect you as a player expect more from you as a man.
Get well soon and the best of luck for the season.

Tough group for Chelsea in CL! I hope you have lots of luck and all of you'll work a lot because Valencia are going to play the hard way. This season is going to be a difficult one for you and your team. I am saying stupid things. The fact is that I don't know what to say. You have become too "strong" all of a sudden, and that makes me wonder if you are still the character that astonished me some years ago. It's not about you being a good player (though this is also important), it' about you being a very good example in sport and life. Maybe, we, the fans, ask to manny things from you but it's not true that we don't appreciate you enough. We do and we understand when one cannot do more, because you are as we are. For me it's not general, it's personal. My model should have been somebody older and more likely a woman. But it's from you I have learned to fight, to bear unbearable things and become stronger. So, I guess, I don't want to have failled believing in you. What are my expectations from you? To be honest with you and with the others, to take any decision without regreting it, to play by the rules of fairplay (and I am refering to any situation, not only football), to respect others' opinions, to listen to everybody and do it your way, to forget that you are a famous player and play every game as you were a star to be born. These are some of my expectations. And the funny thing is that I want you to fulfill them for you, not me, not anybody else.
OK, I am not in my best-writing-hape today, I'll do better next time.

Frank ,
Why use did you have to use such foul language after your so undeserved penalty kick. You should know better .Come on frank as an old pro and England international you should be setting a good example.Show that you can be a good sport and apologise to liverpool for you unsporting behaviour.

This England team couldn't beat an egg.
I know that u scored Frank but take a leaf out of Carra's book and do the decent thing. YES YOU have to do it cos the manager obviously hasn't got the bottle .By the way Barca are not interested in buying you so you better hurry up and sign your contract with Chelsea before you run down your value.
Chelsea are gonna get you on the cheap, so don't be greedy or they will let you go on a free ,and even West Ham don't want you back.
