Frank Lampard on... the title race
Hi! It's Frank again, welcome to my latest blog.
It's crunch time in the Premiership and I can safely say this has been our toughest season so far. We had it easy to a certain extent in the last two seasons because we've won the league convincingly.
At the start of the season, the Premiership's always our no.1 priority as that's our bread and butter, week-in, week-out and Europe and everything else follows on from there.
This year’s thrown up many more issues, Man Utd have improved, we can all see that. We’ve had injury problems which have made it difficult for us, especially over the Christmas period, where we dropped points so we’ve been chasing, which is a new thing for us.
It’s interesting as well though, we’re still there, enjoying the fight and the different pressures.
Man Utd’s team has definitely matured this season and Cristiano Ronaldo has been outstanding for them – probably the stand-out player this year. I voted for him in the PFA awards, but only because I couldn’t vote for Didier Drogba! Paul Scholes has also been back fit and playing very well.
They’re a huge club that will always be there or thereabouts and they’ve had a couple of years where they’ve dipped but they’ve come back and upped their game.
I hope you'll be keeping your fingers crossed for us!
'Til next time.
Frank

hiiiya frank i think ur an amazing player for chelsea and england and your my idol :)

OH,BE A GIRL! WEAR A DRESS! Just stop moaning and bitching about the money or the way you're being treated. There's quite a bit that can be said about the way you treat people too-and by people I mean your fans.
Go ahead, wear a dress! You know you want to.

Frank,if you ever came in situation to quit Chelsea, please remember what Steven Gerrard did after the Champ Lg final 2005..
And what would any englishman do..Look what David Becks did.
What he was when he played for ManUtd and what he is now...
Maybe it is strange, that I as a foreigner talk so much about English players, but I really liked your last interview when you said that you "seeks homegrown talents"..Premier League would be nothing without homegrowns players, but I am sure that everyone will agree with me that premier league and chelsea should have more english players...And all that waste of money for "world class" players, that's rubbish.
Give chance youth english players,,just like JT was.
And Frank please remember:Chelsea is nothing without you!
You will ruin your career if you decide to quit now, just like Shevchenko did.
Stay at Chelsea it is best for all, mostly for the supporters you have. Thats priceless
Chelsea fan forever

You are so f.....g stupid, Frank! Greed is a sin in case you forgot and somebody didn't think to remind you. What's the reason for which you are going to Barca? Have you put in a balance all the details? Or you are guided by financial reasons and somebody else's desire to go and play there. Maybe I am unfair, but I am a good judger and from what I see is not going to get better for you. You are more and more criticized for different things. That you put some weight, that you are not a good football player, that you don't have a proper attitude and you act hysterical, that are looking only to get more money. Did you think even thought it may be a reason for which people say bad things about you? Do you have the whole picture or just a part of it?
Do you still have respect for your fans? Or they are a insignifiant category? I really do not understand why is it so important to have more than 110000 euro per week?! It is outrageous!
It is sad for us to see that you became what you were not supposed to. It is sad to tell you all these things. It is sad to judge you, because this is what I am doing. It is sad that nobody really thinks at your best, not even you.
Anyway, good luck with everything! Wherever you'll be.

For God's sake, read for once in your life our more or less stupid commentaries! Or have your own site! Rumours go arround that you have put some weight. I do not know if it's true, I do not blame you, because italian food is great. But you need to take more care about your eating, no matter hpw much energy you spend on the field or at gym. And there is another reason for which you might have put some extra pounds. You would not be pleased to hear it, but you have no choice. Drinking. A habit that has ended the career of manny great players and sportsmen. Take care!

It's kind of late, but still "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" for yesterday. I wish you to have a long career in football! More successuful than so far! You can do it, I know you can. You just need to want it enough and to pay attention to every detail. Because sometimes, details make the difference. So good luck with everything! I wish you an astonishing next season! And hope you pay your contribution to England's qualifying for the European Cup 2008.

Your Heavenly Sweetness,
May I congratulate you on a job well done;watching you play for England both against Brazil and Esthonia was an absolute joy! I have waited a long time to see you play like this and it was worth the wait. Screw the booing ignorant mediocrity - what do they know? One question, though: does this mean you started playing with your heart again (as well as with your exceptional mind and magnificent broad thighs) for England's sake or are you that desperate to prove you're as good as Stevie? That was the only weakness as far as I could see: you shouldn't try so hard to prove you're good. We always knew you were; that's why we were on your case to play from the heart. It's your best feature!
A suggestion: when you have such a great head of hair, do not have it cut. Leave it alone. Better still, let it grow back to the length it was in your youth.
Sign the bleeding contract! How much money does a man need, anyway?

hi
you got better review from the newspaper.
good luck for next england game. More practice ok ( sometime losing the ball and miss teckle). By the way don't be desperate to get goal, just being tim player and giving good assist (just like beckS)
hope you stay at chelsea :)

I tought you play well in brazil game,(even gerrard played better).
You have to play better for being used in england team, don't be selfish, more practice (esspecially for teckle)
you have to play better than gerro (i hate that man, he stealing your champion league final, your position on national team).
i will always support you
go lampsy
any way, when you will sign contract with CFC, you cannot find a better club and coach

Hard times Frank. Everybody knows you are a strong character and that you are trying to play well against all your critics. I do not know if you are trying to make us believe that you don't care when you do, or you do not care indeed. It is a two-side issue. Whether you care or not about what people say about you, whether you want to accept that it is a simple "panem et circens" matter, you should fight for you. But not with bitterness, because this does not suite you. And this may be one of the things that led to this. You fought too much latelly. It is all right to admitt that you are tirred and that there are moments when you feel that your world is falling apart.
I watched the game against Brazil. I must admit that it was a bit borring at the begining, but it got more interesting latter on. What can I say. You and Steve must work your problems. Because you have plenty of. When you do not avoid Steve, he avoids you and so on. I know that you are afraid of doing something wrong because he has a different status at this moment, but this silent conflict needs to be solved. You are both very good players. It is difficult for any coach to chose between you two. Macca must pay more attention to this problem and make both of you stay on the pitch. Until you got to know each other really well, so well that you have to know what is in the other's mind. It is my humble opinion.
Pray a little. It may help you. Good luck with Estonia!

Dear Frankie,
Congratulations on the arrival of your new baby daughter! May she always be healthy and blessed with good fortune. Congratulations on your FA Cup victory, as well. It was clearly your pass to Drogba that won the game, so you're player of the match in my book!
You're a great player and I hope that, after you've had some time to rest, you'll be back on top form for next season and that you'll stay put in England and not go off to play football in some other country.

Congrats to the TEAM! And congratulations to each of you! Didi tu as ete magnifique, un vrai gagneur! Tu as eu raison de dire que personne a tes qualites.
And, Frank, after a long time you were on the field as a player, not as a spectator. You were not you entirely, but it is important that you've played your cards and reminded us that you still have resources, that you still have something to give to the world, meaning quality football, guts, determination, strenght, inspiration. It may be ludicrous what I am writing but I am so happy that you've won.
It is all about you, whether you want for your qualities to become history now or later. You are one of the few players who may become legends. It depends only on you making the suitable choise not for your pocket, not for your ego, but for your future. Sometimes a great person gives up of his/her pride, in order to do what's best. Analyse every detail, put yourself in your new team-mates shoes and see if you will be able to adapt to another team, a team where you are an outcomer, with a different culture and spirit. And for God's sake, is it that important to let down all your fans in order to be above certain persons?! Some people earn 200 euro/ month, even less, and they do not complain that someone less talented earn more.
We do not need to set shirts on fire to make you stay, because it is only your decision to make and nobody else's. But as team's fans, we want express our point of view.
So whatever you chose, do it with clear conscience, do it because you wanted it to!
Posted by: Carmen | 21 May 2007 at 10:34
It was a fantastinc FA Cup final. I was so happy and proud. We have a FA Cup!!! Congratulations Frank! You were fantastic during the match like old Frank from last season 05/06'!!! It was an amazing passing to Drogba and then a beautiful Didier's goal!!! You're gorgeous Frank!!! You're the best palyer in the world. hiya Lamps, my god!!! what a game today! i`m still buzzing!! watched the match in the pub, surrounded by man u-re fans, wearing my number 8 Lampard t-shirt and felt extremely proud to be wearing it. the atmosphere where i was was good enough but Wembley looked fab, would`ve loved to of been there today. felt so proud of you all when you walked out onto the pitch, knew you were gonna win. p.s i actually won a bet today!! i bet my bro {a utd fan} that you would win, so thanks to you all i`m 20 quid richer today. cheers. you had a couple of great chances yourself today Frankie, that shot that just skimmed the net had me on the edge of my seat, desperately wanted that to go in for you. i started to get a bit nervous towards the end of extra time, thought it was gonna go to penalties, and we all know what luck man u have with penalties don`t we? it`s how they got to the final in the first place!! not like you guys, you got there on sheer class and determination and the Cup is back where it truly belongs. Didier`s goal was amazing, as usual! with a little help from you though eh? gorgeous little one-two there Frankie, brilliant. today has been a great day, a beautiful blue day. congratulations and well done to you all, you deserve it...AND GET THAT CONTRACT SORTED OUT, WE DONT WANT TO LOSE YOU!!! love ya Frankie, you`re the best. lots of love xxx

Hi Frank!
I watched a some of your last matches and I couldn't believe that player with number 8 is that you... Really... You were just invisible, you just passed the ball. I understand that everybody can have a worse days... But this was not in your style. You're a brave player, who fight for the last ball... You're an ambitious person, who don't give up easy... so why now you don't fight... maybe you have a problems, like everybody... but really try to change your game. The chance will be on saturday in the FA Cup. I believe in you! I want to see a strong and brave Frank, who shoots the beautiful goals... See u on saturday, I'll be watch you!!! [best wishes for family] ;>

Frankie, I hate to say it but Carmen's spot-on! You're not the fighter we've come to know and love over the years. Is it that you're too much into the whole "superstar" life style with the expensive cars and clothes and watches etc and you don't give a damn ? Is it that you've made your mind up to go to Barcelona because things at Chelsea aren't going the way you hoped,so you don't give a damn? Or is it that you've grown older and heavier and you don't want to risk injury, so that you may play for another three or four years? Whichever it is, snap out of it and give your fans -the people who love you- a good performance. In case you've forgotten, that's who you're playing for.

Sorry about the title maybe next yh i hope .you are my fave player ever.Tishxxx
Posted by: tish | 15 May 2007 at 17:04
This is not a good introduction, but somebody has to snapp you to come to your player senses. You've got a problem, Frank. A real one. The irony is that the problem consists in not admiting that you are in a dead end. I haven't seen the yesterday game, but I read the newspapers and I saw your last matches you've played and I could not recognize you. I know it is difficult. I know you are strugling to play as best as possible, but you are most of the time absent, as if you were afraid of playing the ball. And when you do have the ball you are not playing it as you used to. What happened to that astonishing player from the last European Championship? What happend to the player who impressed everybody for its character? Maybe I am wrong. You'll have a chance to prove it on Saturday. It is horrible to be disappointed by someone who gave you an example of tough character.
And I also think that sometimes one must pay attention even to bad things people right about oneself. One may learn something new.

Dear Frank,
still gutted you've lost the Championship and the chance to play at the Champions' League final? I hope not! It can't have felt good; especially to an ambitious, competitive man like you, I understand, but you've got a really good chance to win the FA Cup and that's, like, the oldest, most important trophy in the history of football. You have this to look forward to and, of course, something far more valuable -or should I say invaluable?- your second child. So, chin up and concentrate on winning. After all, the Frankie Lampard I love is nothing if not a fighter!
Good luck on the 19th!
Posted by: MARINA GABRIEL | 13 May 2007 at 12:22
hiya Lamps, bad luck to you and the guys for losing the prem, never mind, it`ll be ours again next year. as you and J.T have both said, we`ve had a lot of injuries to contend with, so we`ve had to play catch up all season. You`ll all just bounce back stronger. We`ve still got the F.A Cup to play for as well, so let`s make it 2 trophies yeah? Don`t let Man U-re get their filthy, stinking hands on that one! They don`t deserve it for starters. By the way, watched Chelsea v Man U-re the other nite, strange game, but Chelsea were the better side by miles. All they did was defend all night, they were boring to watch..as usual. They even tried to get a trademark penalty, think Ronaldo had been giving tips before the game! Obviously didn`t show them how to do it right though because it was disallowed. That would of been scandalous if it WAS allowed. I see we were denied 2 send-offs. The tackle on SWP was outrageous! that`s how broken legs happen. Pleased that you and Didier are back for today`s game against Everton. Go and give em a thrashing Frankie, if you win/draw today, that`ll be a record for unbeaten games at Stamford Bridge equalling Anfield`s record. You guys are the best!! You just keep setting these records don`t you? I`m sooo proud of you all and so, so grateful for what you`ve achieved all season. I love you all!! especially you Lamps, you`ve always been my favourite player, and soooo gorgeous to look at!!! PHWOARRRR!! I`ve said before and i`ll say again, you`ve got the best legs in the business. Must go, i`m starting to drool!! Good luck against Everton later, have a great game and bring on Wembley next weekend. lots of love xxx

well looks like chelsea blew it. and its so funny that the blues think they hav had injury problems. wow! ur first choice gaolkeep and defender. thats really gonna lose you the title. the fact chelsea wasted 30million on a 30yr old player goes to show they didnt deserve to get the title. Oh sorry about the injury crisis tho. i mean Man U have have Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Park, Saha, Silvestre all out injured. But hey. We still won!

In time I may be able to cope with Utd borrowing our title but the one thing I'll never come to terms with is Ronaldo scooping the board. Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes or Ole Gunnar Scolsaer yes but not Ronaldo. He runs like a constipated girl, uses tricks rather than talent and how I hate that permanent smug look on his face. Play at Wembley like you did on Sunday and the FA Cup's ours

Hi Frank!!!
Good luck for the FA cup final against MU !!! Even if we lost the Champions' League and the Premiership, I'm so proud of my team !!! I hope you will score against MU !!! It would be wonderful !!! This season was very hard with all this injuries but Chelsea was great !!!
You played very well your matches and you scored incredible goals !!!!
I'm sure that the next year will be great too and Chelsea will win the Champions' League ;) !!!!
Good luck for your last matches !!! You're the best Frank :D !!!

JUST IN CASE YOU READ THIS:
Frank,
I am genuinely sad and deeply dissapointed you didn't win over Arsenal today; I prayed that you'd put one of your dead balls in the back of the net (after all, an Arsenal defeat is good for Liverpool-Champions' League and all)but you seem unable to find yourself in goal of late.
Do your best to take the FA Cup because I really don't want to see it go to Man.U. hands.
Good luck on Wednesday.
Your Liverpool supporter fan (stranger things have happened!)

Like one of your earlier contributors, I suspect Frank's blog is ghosted for him, as it is always written in the most flattering and optimistic terms with never a mention of the obvious tensions that have overshadowed the team's recent performances.
Ballack's unauthorised departure to have an operation in Germany, which could have been delayed until the end of the season, illustrates the underlying turmoil within the club. This player stated by Mourinho earlier this season to be one of his 'ever presents in the Chelsea line-up' clearly lacks the pace of a quality Premiership mid-field player and undoubtedly represents the biggest mistake Chelsea have made in the transfer market. Ballack's and Shevchenko's absurdly high wages relative to stalwarts like John Terry and Frank have clearly unsettled the rest of the team this season.
The facts are that Chelsea's players, particularly Frank, have looked tired and jaded in recent weeks and lacking the passion and commitment displayed by players like Gerrard and Carragher in the second away Champions League game at Anfield.
Chelsea blew what chance they had of winning the Premiership title by a mediocre and casual performance against a Bolton side who were soundly thrashed (3-0 at half-time) by West Ham yesterday. Contrast the commitment of Tevez and Noble in this game with the anaemic displays of Chelsea's 'star' players against the same Bolton team.
Unless the team spirit and passion can be revived this afternoon, Arsenal will put the final nail in Chelsea's fading chances of retaining the title and raise question marks again over Mourinho's future - with only the FA Cup final to play for later this month

Dear Frankie,
do you ever get to read the comments posted here? Do you have anything to do with this blog whatsoever, or is it just something an Orange Blog editor does for you and signs your name as part of the sponsorship deal? The comments posted and the answers given in the chat room are so vague and non specific that I could have posted them.
I guess what I'm really asking is, do you care about people's opinions or is it all about making the extra cash to buy yet another Ferrari? People care about the things you do and think and say and they care about you as a player and perhaps as a person. I hope you realise that you are in the spotlight and everything you do matters, especially to young people. I am not a Chelsea fan and, although in the past you were ill-treated by the press for what you called "youthful mistakes", I preferred that side of you. Not the squeeky clean-cut version but the honest one.I truly think you're one of the greatest players England's produced in recent years (and a complicated, intriguing man to boot) but maybe the whole "football star" lifestyle is something you should be careful not to overdo. I am a Liverpool fan but since we're not in the fight for the Championship or the FA Cup, I wish you the best of luck for both, from the bottom of my heart. It's not that I hate Man.U.(I hate no one)or that I like Chelsea: I love the look on your beautiful face when you lift trophies!
If you read this, mention it in your next post.
Posted by: MARINA GABRIEL | 05 May 2007 at 22:03
Im sorry Red but your comment is pathetic. If you dont like Frank, why comment on his blog?
If he should never wear an England shirt, how come he was voted England player of the year 2004 and 2005? Can I ask you who was our top scorer during World cup qualification? That's right. It was Lampard. You might not like Frank but he deserves more respect than that.
You also mention shooting from an impossible angle so you've obviously never seen his goal against Barcelona in the champions league have you?
And for a guy so overrated, I'd say 21 goals in one season is pretty good wouldn't you?
You're brilliant Frank!

Its called free speech, Matt. My opinion is obviously different to yours and that makes it neither immature or small-minded - it is just a point of view. Chelsea need a miracle, pal - concentrate on May 19.
Posted by: Mr RED to you | 05 May 2007 at 17:25
RED, whats the point of such negative comments, its immature and small minded. Frank's a great player with more talent than most and I still believe that we can win the Prem and FA cup!
Good Luck Frank and the rest of the team! Remember "Blue day"
"our blood is blue and we will leave you never
and when we make it itll be together"!
