Frank Lampard on... Christmas
Happy Christmas, and welcome to my latest posting on the Orange sport blog.
As you know, the Christmas period is one of the busiest times of the year for professional footballers. It’s not an easy time for players, with four games in just over a week, but I’ve never known anything different.
Making sacrifices
It affects you in that you can’t always eat what you want or drink what you want, you have to train on Christmas day and maybe stay in a hotel on Christmas night.
It’s one of the down sides of being a footballer, but there’s too many up sides to worry too much. I’ll be 35 years old soon and out of football, and can spend the rest of my life enjoying Christmases.
Having said that, I’m still going to have a bit of time to enjoy the festive season with my family, as you can see in this video…
I’m a big Christmas dinner fan and last year a good friend of mine - Marco Pierre White - sent someone round to help me cook it.
We were in a new house with a new kitchen, and didn’t want to mess the whole thing up before the family came round.
This year we’re going to go solo – so we’ve taken the tips on board from last year. I’ll tell you in the new year if it was a success or not!
Family man
I love giving Christmas presents, but it can be hard. I get nervous thinking about what I might get for people, especially Elen - my girlfriend - who is sometimes hard to buy for.
However, I think the beauty of this year is that it’s the first year I’ve actually been able to buy a proper present for my daughter. I’ll never forget when I was a kid - I think I was about 11 or 12 - and I came downstairs on Christmas morning and mum and dad asked me to go in the front room.
I walked in and there was a mountain bike sitting there for me with a little bit of tinsel on the handlebars! I’ll never forget that, it was special, and that’s why I want to get something special for my daughter.
As for me…
I don’t really have a wish list for presents this year, but I do like suits and dressing smart. Suits and shoes. I’ve got a thing for shoes, and probably own about 30 or 40 pairs! I like my trainers too…
My team-mate at Chelsea, Michael Ballack, recently bought an early Christmas present for himself - a lovely new Ferrari.
It’s white and very eye-catching - an outstanding car. I’m probably a little bit more conservative - black maybe, or blue. My current car is blue. Chelsea blue.
Anyway, thanks for reading, and have a great Christmas.
Frank.

Hi Frank, Just spoken to Wayne . Your pup's look great , I own the grandad to your pup's (Louie)Irish ch Branoudoux Ambassador at Cwmgarws . I am looking forward to seeing the pup, Wayne is having from you. Wayne is looking forward to showing him in Ireland, Rocco litter brother is in Ireland and showing out there this year , we are hoping to make him into a Irish champion .Louie( Rocco dad) became annual champion for 2005 and 2006 , he is the only bordeaux to have ever achieved this , and Rocco has a half brother who is a champion . I would love to see a picture of how Rocco has grown up . His dad is 28 inches to the shoulder, and has a 32 inch head, and was 12 stone last time we wieghed him. Many thanks for the signed photo for are school Glandwr, but unfortunatly the school is being closed down this year, due to lack of goverment funding.Keep up the good work by putting the goals in the back of the net for Chelsea !! To my favourite football player, frank lampard.
i`m your sincere fan,and my biggest dream in my life is to meet you. When i went to ENGLAND last year for summer school in CAMBRIBGE, i also went to london, stamford bridge, in order to see your plays. Unfortunetly there was no game on that weekend in the Stamford bridge.
i wish next time when i go to london, i`ll cheer you up and your chelsea in the stadium.
best wishes for u

Merry Xmas Frank, but you went missing in the second half up there in Wigan when Chelsea were outplayed.
We only won thanks to a 93 minute winner by the fleet footed and quick witted Arjen Robben.
Coming on top of the scare at Everton last weekend, we cannot expect Father Christmas to continue to shower us with such pressies in the New Year. We certainly cannot expect the Manu players to ease off on their red Ferrari throttles and gift us any more easy points as they did against West Ham.
Maybe Michael Ballack should invest in a property in London instead of buying his Cehlsea blue Ferrari and also show his commitment to the club by scoring some goals in the New Year, as he also had a mediocre game today.
Merry Xmas and a happy and successful New Year to all members of the team and staff at the club.

Apparently the 28 year old will soon be 35, and they say footballers are thick. Its all right though frank im sure when your on the new contract with your buddy Michael Ballack at £121,000 a week you can afford a ferrari too and can have it in chelsea blue. However you dont want to be too flash cause if you stay on that contract till your 35 you will only earn £44,044,000 before your endorsements come on top, so you better start saving for your pension, just ask rio he is from a tough area and will give you fiscal advice(http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fiscal). Not bad for not being very good any more and getting a lot of deflections.
