Mandy’s the only handy man for the job

As Gordon Brown’s battered ship sinks there is only one man who can save the Government. I never thought I’d say it, but: Peter Mandelson, your country needs you.

Make no mistake, Gordon’s game is up. Kicked out of local government in England, and trailing the Cornish nationalists in the European vote – it simply doesn’t get any worse than this, and if Labour is to avoid catastrophic defeat in 2010 Brown must go.

Yet with backbench plotters failing to come up with the necessary numbers, and the cabinet’s biggest beasts cowed into a show of unity, the only remaining alternative to a General Election landslide carrying Gordon Brown out of Number 10 is for someone to persuade our notoriously stubborn PM to make a dignified exit by his own volition.

Can it be done? If Brown’s to be made to see sense it won’t be by a minnow like Purnell, a friend-turned-enemy like Alistair Darling, or even a would-be successor like Alan Johnson. It’ll be by the figure Brown today counts as his closest political ally, chief confidant and deputy: Mandy.

For the sake of the Government, the Labour party and the country, Brown must go – his MPs know it, and though few imagined this day would arrive, the Prince of Darkness is the one figure with the Machiavellian instinct and political gravitas to make the call. Lord Mandelson, England expects…

to one of the others.. I think you'd be hard pushed to find a labour supporter who had a good word to say about Mandy. The man is an out and out crook. Brown's run out of decent allies and has had to resort to bringing back someone who has been discredited more times than I've had hot dinners. It's nothing to do with party allegiance. I saw Mandelson on the Andrew Marr show and he answered the questions like a man with a lot to hide especially the question about "the email". If I was an undecided voter Mandelson would certainly make me vote Conservative as he looks like an arrogant, sneaky liar and not someone I would want as PM. Are you not all missing the point? The majority of ordinary hard working tax paying people in this country want Brown, Mrs Blair, the Kinnocks, Mendelson and all their cronies OUT NOW! If the Nu Labour want to stay in power they should seek a new Mandate. Not in over a year's time, but NOW. We need a government, with fresh and workable policies (not all these airy fairy pipe dreams). We want vigerous, fresh people to come in and start getting this country up to the standard that all you hard working tax paying lot deserve.

Let's have an end to all the ludicrous political correctness that has added billions in cost to us tax payers. Same with the compensation culture - and all the "ooman rights" scam lawyers - time to sort them out and cut their gravy train. We need reform of the archaic Government - heavily loaded in favour of the top 10%. Make politicians dismissable for serious ofences like fiddling expenses and don't pay any leaving compensation either. Why should we keep people who have fiddled the system in luxury that we will never enjoy??

The house of Lords should be (at the very least) elected by us and all bribery of any politician should become a serious criminal offence. (Conspiracy is already a criminal offence).

How about limiting MP's to one per family and allowing only two terms maximum? For goodness sake - so many people clammering to get in to Parliament - and we have families of members! That is not fair. Nor is it fair to keep rationing everything by the size of the purse, with petrol taxes, road charges and congestion charges. The upper lot are only mildly affected by such things - they can afford to pay - or they claim it on expenses and you pay directly their costs.

I hope I have given some ideas for a fresh look at our politics and governance to be settled NOW by a General Election at the end of the Summer Hols. - not next year. Do go to 10 Downing Street site and sign the e-petition that somone has kindly put up calling for a general Election. Then, may the party with the best team, The most appealing and fresh ideas - Win!!

I don't think even red Greg was suggesting that slimy mandelson (can I refer to him as slimy, or is that offensive to slugs?) should be prime minister, but that he should be the one to get Gordon to quit. Of course Gordon will hang on to the bitter end as he had to wait so long for slimy Tony to stand down, and by the time he did the damage was done. (Incidentally, I would like to see Tony's expenses claims.) However, it makes no difference whether Gordon hangs on or not the party is finished, which is why there are no challengers for the leadership.

Mandlson is owned by the EU and every thing he does must comply with the EU commision's wishes. If he does not he will loose his EU pension and any other monies he gets from them. The situation has now been made worse by Glennys Kinnock being taken on by Brown. The Kinnock family are in reciept of hundreds of thousands of pounds from the EU so they are hardly likely to support Great Britain if it affects their income.
