Good week: Clarkson, Sian Lloyd, Obama, 80’s pop stars

Posted by Greg McDoland

It was a turbo-charged week for Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson, as 30,000 fans signed a Downing Street petition for the outspoken champion of political incorrectness to be made Prime Minister.

Jeremy Clarkson (c) PA Photos 2008The Daily Mail was quick to back his cause, even going so far as to invent a hypothetical Clarkson manifesto. Here’s Jeremy on the Dutch border, evidently building up experience for discussions with future foreign secretary Richard Hammond.

It was a happy week for Sian Lloyd, as the 49-year-old weather presenter married millionaire Jonathan Ashman in Portmeirion. Unsurprisingly, this pair weren’t invited. We’re glad Sian’s found happiness, and can only wonder how anyone could possibly fall for the charms of a grown woman who takes such an irreverent approach to weather reporting as this?

It was a triumphant week for Barack Obama, who won a shock victory over Hillary Clinton in the Iowa caucus. It’s been a meteoric rise for the charismatic senator, with his candid approach on the campaign trail winning over voters. How’s this for honesty from a politician?

It was a bumper week for 80’s pop stars, as organisers of the Here and Now extravaganza announced plans to extend the sell-out nostalgia tour to Japan and Germany.

If you think you can take the peroxide perms, here are Bananarama on top pop form, while fellow tour-mates ABC rock the “side parting and gold lamé suit” look.

Clarkson is like a spoilt child who has has a privileged upbringing and does not have any useful attributes, as far as I can see he is one of the band of media made celebrities we could well do without, mind you as PM he would probably not be any worse that the out of touch twits running the country at present.

Clarkson for PM - I think NOT !! He is very self opinionated and thinks he is 'It' - and only he can do is drive a car and produce a boring programme. Hardly a CV for a PM - where do people get their ideas from ???

Why would people sign a petition to make Jeremy Clarkson our next Prime minister? They can't seriously want him to be in charge, in anycase since when do we elect by petition.

Clarkson should speak to these guys.
