Cops caught out

So, Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer wasn’t murdered after all!
I’m sure his widow, Gill, is on the phone right now thanking the Jamaican authorities for their highly professional investigation which initially concluded he had been strangled.
Today’s official confirmation that Woolmer died from natural causes - in his Jamaica hotel bedroom during the World Cup - brings to an end what surely must rank as one of the most bungled investigations since Inspector Clouseau was in his pomp.
But it shouldn’t be the end of the story by any means.
Nothing will bring Woolmer back to his wife and two sons and they will, in time, no doubt gain comfort from the fact that no-one was responsible for his death.
But to put them through the agony of thinking otherwise is totally indefensible. And what about members of the Pakistan cricket party who have had the finger pointed at them for several months as the conspiracy theorists went into overdrive?
Many man-hours should now go into getting to the bottom of what went wrong - and the individuals responsible should pay with their jobs at the very least.
