Kylie’s hot, hot, hot at Cannes!

Posted by Jane Murphy

 Kylie Minogue

Here’s Kylie Minogue halfway through a rousing rendition of ‘I’m A Little Teapot’ in front of the paparazzi at Friday night’s Dolce & Gabbana party in Cannes.

Everyone’s favourite pop princess stole the show in a hot pink dress. And if you’re wondering why she looks even happier than usual, rumour has it she’s set to marry her boyfriend Andres Velencoso.

And where did the rumour come from? Well, when asked by the nice man from the News of the World whether she was set to tie the knot, Kylie reportedly blushed, looked down at her feet and said, “Er… I really couldn’t say.”

Hmmm… it’s not quite cast-iron confirmation of an engagement, is it? But, hey, we’ll take it!

Anyway, want to know who else was at the D&G party? Pixie and Peaches Geldof showed up - but because we’ve seen so many pics of the style-conscious siblings recently, I thought I’d show you a couple of supermodel shots instead.

So here’s Eva Herzigova managing to look goofy and glamorous at the same time…

And here’s the ridiculously stunning Claudia Schiffer getting out of her car…

By the way, I have it on good authority that Claudia was wearing clothes - even if this picture does suggest otherwise.

Fancy a bed-in with Kylie and Becks?

 Kylie Minogue, David Beckham

Another day, another pointless poll...

As you may or may not already know, this month marks the 40th anniversary of John Lennon and Yoko Ono's famous bed-in peace protest at the Amsterdam Hilton. (Tsk - hippies, eh?)

So to mark the occasion, the Sleep Council has conducted a survey to find out which famous person us Brits would most like to share a bed-in with today.

Hot on the heels of her success in last week's Pancake Day poll, Kylie Minogue proved the most popular bed-in partner for men. Women, on the other hand, would prefer to share a politically active mattress with David Beckham.

Still, not everyone saw the survey as a chance to fantasise about jumping into bed with a celebrity. A fair few politicians also made the list - including (no surprises here!) US president Barack Obama...

...and Britain's wartime prime minister Sir Winston Churchill...

Hmmm... Kylie, Becks or Churchill? Who would you prefer to get into bed with? Tell us here.

Kylie's the sweetest thing

 Kylie Minogue

It's Pancake Day tomorrow, folks. And you know what that means, don't you? Yep, it's time for another pointless poll...

Ready? Kylie Minogue has been voted the UK's sweetest celebrity in a survey by Lyle's Golden Syrup. (Yes, I know she's Australian - but she's lived here for so long, she's presumably now an honorary Brit.)

Dancing on Ice presenter Holly Willoughby came second in the poll, closely followed by - you guessed it! - Cheryl Cole.

Meanwhile, comb-shy granddad-botherer Russell Brand was voted the least sweet star. And hot on the heels of being crowned women's ideal breakfast partners in another recent poll, inseparable double act Ant and Dec were chosen as the celebrities we'd most like to share a pancake with.

But surely sharing a pancake with Ant and Dec would mean you'd have to split it three ways. Tsk - what a load of old crêpe!

Kylie's right royal faux pas

Kylie Minogue

Here's a slightly weary-looking Kylie Minogue leaving a Kensington pub at chucking-out time last night, having spent the evening celebrating with friends and family.

The occasion? As you've doubtless already heard, everyone's favourite pop princess was awarded an OBE at Buckingham Palace earlier in the day.

Kylie Minogue

A cheery Prince Charles stood in for his mum at the ceremony, and engaged Ms Minogue in an unprecedented 33 seconds of hushed conversation. "He just asked what I'm up to at the moment and said he was happy to see me better," Kylie later revealed.

But in a shocking break with royal protocol, Kylie ended their exchange by clutching Prince Charles's hand in hers. Oooh - the horror! According to my Big Girls' Bumper Book of Royal Etiquette, one is normally obliged to curtsey or simply indulge in a formal handshake on such occasions.

Still, Charlie didn't appear to be too bothered by the brief display of intimacy. In fact, he looked absolutely delighted. However, royal advisers had to step in to stop the overexcited prince from rallying guests to "do the Locomotion" round the Buckingham Palace ballroom afterwards. Possibly...

Kylie loses her pants

Kylie Minogue

First, the good news: pop princess Kylie Minogue says she'll still be performing on stage when she's 60.

And the bad news? The singer - who turned 40 in May - insists she's ditched her famous hotpants for good.

"It's difficult to age with dignity in the pop business, but I'd like to think I've managed it so far," she tells Easy Living magazine. "But I won't be wearing hotpants any more!"

So should we start a campaign to bring back the hotpants - or is 40 really too old to flash your pins on stage? Tell us what you think.

Happy birthday Kylie!

Kylie Minogue

As you'll doubtless already be aware - unless you've just arrived from another planet, that is - Kylie Minogue turns 40 today.

Everyone's favourite pop princess is taking a well-earned day off from her current world tour - and hanging out with close friends and family in Germany. Kylie's parents Ron and Carol have flown in from Australia - and sister Dannii will be joining in the celebrations, too.

Now, do correct me if I'm wrong but Kylie seems to be one of a very rare breed: a celebrity who pretty much everybody likes. Think about it: while the likes of Jordan, Victoria Beckham and Kerry Katona polarise public opinion, nobody seems to have a bad word to say about Ms Minogue.

Despite her stellar success, she seems down-to-earth, honest and forever charming. Even on the few occasions when there has been a whiff of scandal surrounding her, it's been very quickly dispersed. Frankly, we won't have a bad word said against her.

So have a fabulous birthday, Kylie - and here's to the next 40 years!
