Now, I appreciate that battling addiction in the public eye must have been an absolute nightmare.

I can’t imagine how awful it must be to have the paparazzi camped outside your house 24/7.

And I really don’t want to knock someone when they’re down.

But I just want to ask one thing, Amy Winehouse: is that really any way to dress when you’ve just nipped down to your local pub for the evening?

It’s the Q Awards. Cue eye-popping outfits!

Monday afternoon is party time! At least, it was yesterday - as the great and the good from the music business gathered at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel for the Q Awards.

Among the winners? A casual-looking Lily Allen picked up the gong for Best Track (for ‘The Fear’), sporting a very chic white-sparkly-frock-over-black-leggings combo. However, the Daily Mirror’s 3am Girls have described the singer’s ’do as “post-coital hair”. Whatever can they mean?

And talking of hair, Pixie Lott wore some flowers in hers…

…while Shingai Shoniwa from The Noisettes opted to pop a selection of fruit in hers…

Well, that’s one way to remind yourself to get your five a day, I suppose.

And finally, here’s the ever-delightful Amy Winehouse showing off her brand new jubblies to the paparazzi (again) later in the evening…

Apparently, Amy bowled up late to the ceremony, but eventually stumbled on stage to present The Specials with the Inspiration Award.

She later “heckled” Robert Plant - by chanting, “Billy Bragg! Billy Bragg!” - when he went up to collect a gong. Mind you, this may not have been text-book heckling: she could just have terrible eyesight.

Anyway, Amy’s evening ended with a trip to a nearby restaurant with her 13-year-old goddaughter Dionne Bromfield, which is where our charming snap was taken.

Johnny and Halle are the sexiest!

Hurrah! The results of yet another pointless very important celebrity poll have been unveiled - and this one, courtesy of US magazine Parade, provides answers to those tricky questions that have been keeping us all awake at night. (No? Just me then.)

The sexiest stars alive? Johnny Depp and Halle Berry, apparently - which seems a pretty fair choice. And the sexiest couple? Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

So far, so run of the mill - but who’s the most normal couple? The readers of Parade have clearly pondered this question for some time before coming to the conclusion that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are the epitome of normality…

Ah yes, there they are - with their ever-growing CVs of hit movie roles, plush Hollywood mansion and his’n’hers designer wardrobes. You can’t get more “normal” than that, can you?

Meanwhile, George Clooney was named the Most Distinguished Looking Gentleman. Paris Hilton bagged the coveted Most Promiscuous title. And Amy Winehouse was deemed to be the celebrity Most In Need Of Therapy…

Amy - Back On the Strict and Narrow?

Amy Winehouse is to make a triumphant return to Britain by appearing on Strictly Come Dancing. But hold on! Before you get too excited at the thought of a tired and emotional Amy staggering through a rumba before growling menacingly at Craig Revel Horwood and throwing up on Tess Daly’s shoes, she won’t be dancing - she’ll be singing in the background.

Amy is to provide backing vocals on her 13-year-old god-daughter Dionne Bromfield’s new single, when she appears on Strictly to promote it next month. According to reports Amy is determined to make it and has promised “not to mess things up”.

Dionne was the first signing to Amy’s new label Lioness Records and her album is rumoured to feature duets with stars like Lady GaGa and Lemar.  We’re also hoping it brings to an end Amy’s two years away from the recording studio.

Meanwhile, despite being delighted to have Amy on its flagship comedy music show, the BBC have reportedly banned Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding from appearing as a regular on comedy music quiz Never Mind The Buzzcocks after the comic admitted taking drugs in an interview. As ever, it’s one rule for indie comedians and another for multi-million selling singers.

Who’s the worst-dressed female celebrity?

Poor Amy Winehouse. Life’s not been easy for her recently - and now this happens.

Shoppers at Lakeside Thurrock in Essex have deemed the troubled singer the UK’s worst-dressed female celebrity - even worse than local girl Jodie Marsh…

 

Ouch - that’s gotta hurt!

But Peaches Geldof could well feel even more humiliated - because she came third in the survey, despite her burgeoning career as a self-styled fashionista…

 

Meanwhile, the good people of Essex obviously aren’t afraid to criticise their local heroes - because Russell Brand was named the worst-dressed male celebrity.

“When it comes to crimes against fashion, we’ve all been guilty of the odd misdemeanour - but there’s no excuse for sloppy dressing,” says Lakeside’s personal shopper Angela Poplett. Ah, lighten up, Ange!

The world's worst hairstyles?

It's official! Amy Winehouse and Kid Rock sported the worst celebrity hairstyles of 2008. Who says so? The 1,000 women who took part in the annual Sally Beauty Best Tressed Survey, that's who!

Now in its 15th year, the annual US poll aims to uncover the best and worst barnets in showbiz. And topping the list of female stars with rubbish hair, comb-shy Amy managed to brush off stiff competition from fellow singer Pink and model/actress/whatever Mary-Kate Olsen.

The best-tressed female? Immaculately coiffed Eva Longoria came in at No.1...

And the top male? George Clooney (oh, but of course)!

Now, far be it from me to undermine Swoony Clooney's success, but I can't help thinking there's nothing that special about his hair. Still, I reckon the red-blooded women of America would have put him at No.1 even if he was bald.

And finally, there's double cause for celebration in the Holmes/Cruise household - because Katie Holmes came second on the best-tressed female list, while daughter Suri Cruise topped the poll of celebrated celebrity kids' hairstyles.

Lily defends Amy

They may not always have seen eye to eye - but Lily Allen has still spoken out in defence of erstwhile rival Amy Winehouse.

"I know Amy very well, and she is very different to what people portray her as being," Lily says in an interview with Scotland on Sunday. "Yes, she does get out of her mind on drugs sometimes - but she is also a very clever, intelligent, witty, funny person who can hold it together. You just don't see that side. She gets a really hard time."

In fact, Lily thinks she and Amy both get a raw deal from the media. "I mean, there aren't that many people with whom the press concentrate on their personality so much," she continues. "I think in the UK, as far as females go, it's mainly me and her that get that treatment."

World's worst hotel guests?

US travel website www.concierge.com has just unveiled its list of the world's worst celebrity hotel guests - and it makes very interesting reading.

Unsurprisingly, Michael Jackson and Russell Crowe both make the grade for their respective baby-dangling and phone-throwing episodes - while Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse come in for some flak for leaving their rooms in a mess.

However, I was quite shocked to see Nicole Kidman's name on the list. Her alleged crimes? Apparently, she once got her "people" to send a set of pink, 800-thread-count Italian sheets to the Four Seasons Chicago, along with a detailed list of instructions on how to make up her bed. And then she didn't show up.

The Oscar-winner is also reported to have instructed staff at London's Dorchester to replace the standard 60-watt light bulbs in her room with 40-watt ones.

Still, that kind of behaviour hardly competes with throwing a TV set off the balcony or setting off a fire extinguisher in the corridor, does it?

Don't have nightmares!

Ever had a nightmare about a celebrity? I had one about Abi Titmuss and the little bald fella off The Benny Hill Show once, but I'll spare you the details here...

Anyway, Amy Winehouse is the star most likely to feature in people's nightmares, according to a new poll conducted by hotel chain Travelodge.

Scary rocker Marilyn Manson came in second, closely followed by Gordon Brown, Pete Doherty and the Cheeky Girls.

Hmmm... I can't help feeling a bit sorry for the poor old PM. Is he really more scary than fellow politicians David Cameron, Ann Widdecombe or John Prescott, for example?

But as for the rest of them... Yep, I suppose they are a bit scary. Imagine having a nightmare that featured all of them indulging in some kind of terrifying sing-song. Arrrrrgh!

Boring! Boring! Boring!

You wouldn't think it to see the media frenzy outside Amy Winehouse's front door, but - shock, horror! - apparently, nearly half of Londoners are bored with constant newspaper stories about the troubled singer.

And 20% of the capital's tabloid-readers find stories about Cristiano Ronaldo's shenanigans boring, too. Surely not!

The findings come from a poll of 1,000 Londoners, carried out by Rainier PR. Apparently, we'd prefer to read about the credit crunch instead - with just 8% of people finding it dull.

Mind you, the flip side of the results suggests that 52% of Londoners do want to read about Amy - and a whopping 80% can't get enough of Ronaldo.

Hmmm... I wonder what percentage of people want to read stories about people not wanting to read stories about Amy and Ronaldo... I'm always happy to oblige!

Spot the celebrity!

Look very closely at this picture and you may be able to spot Amy Winehouse trying to make her way through the hordes of paparazzi outside her north London flat. (Clue: she's the one with the beehive hair-do.)

Obviously, I can't condone some of the things she does - but is it any wonder she's gone off the rails recently, when this is the scene that greets her every time she sets foot outside her front door?

Anyway, you probably won't be that surprised to hear that Amy spent last night on a Camden bar crawl - trailed by 101 snappers, obviously. Oh, and she seems to have cut herself at some point, as she emerged from The Good Mixer pub with blood smeared across her hand...

Still, she did put the photographers' presence to good use: she persuaded one of them to "lend" her money for cigarettes.

But when she got home, all hell broke loose again - and Amy, presumably accidentally, smacked one of her security staff in the face while trying to fight a path to the door.

Oh Amy - when will it ever end?

Who's in rehab?

Uh-oh! Former Busted star and I'm A Celebrity winner Matt Willis is back in rehab, according to a report in the Daily Mirror.

Matt was rushed into The Priory after his fiancée Emma Griffiths told him to clean up - or their July wedding is well and truly off.

But - hang on! - when did this all happen? Well, say the tabloids, Matt fell back into his bad old habits following just one evening out with his former college friend Amy Winehouse.

"He went too far after the night out with Amy," says a source. "He was so out of it he started swinging at photographers. He and Emma are supposed to get married next month, and have a massive magazine deal, but she told him he needs to sort himself out before she becomes his wife."

Now, I don't think it's fair to blame Amy for all Matt's problems - but this story just goes to show how dangerous and dysfunctional that whole group of friends have become when they hang out together. A word to the wise: if you're a recovering addict, stay away from Amy's!

Let's hope Matt turns things around before July...

Why's Amy spring-cleaning?

Isn't it nice to see Amy Winehouse making the most of the Bank Holiday weekend by having a good old-fashioned spring-clean?

The under-fire singer decided to have a clear-out late on Friday, which gave the ever-present paparazzi something to photograph when she put the rubbish out. (What's the betting the contents of those bin bags will turn up on eBay before too long?)

But why the sudden flurry of cleaning activity? Could it be because Amy was expecting visitors? As you can see, Sadie Frost - one of Ms Winehouse's never-ending legion of new best friends - called round for a cuppa with son Rafferty on Saturday. The fun never stops, does it?

Pete and Amy star in… Winemouse

If your husband is in jail and your marriage is in trouble, what's the best way to contact him? If your name is Amy Winehouse, it's by filming yourself standing in a weird blue room with Pete Doherty and a box of newborn mice and getting one of the rodents to deliver the message. And then chucking the resultant video on YouTube.

"Blake, please don't divorce Mummy - she loves you ever so," says the mouse, in a voice that sounds suspiciously like Amy's. "Oh my God, that's psychedelic," says Pete, correctly as it happens. And it would all be quirky and cute if the whole situation wasn't such a damn mess.

We say: for the sake of all that is pure and good, someone go and free those mice! And while you're there, get those two to clean their fingernails.

Pete's back at Amy's

Ah - don't they make a lovely couple?

Last night saw Pete Doherty pop round to see his under-fire friend Amy Winehouse for the first time since he was released from prison eight days ago.

Earlier in the evening, Amy was in the audience for Pete's gig at the Kentish Town Forum - so Pete and the band called in for a cuppa and a chat chez Winehouse on their way home.

Incidentally, ex-EastEnder James Alexandrou was also round at Amy's - so their unlikely friendship must still be going strong.

Anyway, as you can see, Pete and Amy's farewell on the doorstep was pretty emotional. But are they any good for one another? What do you think?

Amy takes a break

Ah, suddenly the sun comes out and everyone feels much happier. Look - even under-fire Amy Winehouse seemed to be enjoying herself when she took a breather outside the recording studio yesterday afternoon.

For once, Amy looked pretty relaxed as she strolled around the garden with a "cheeky" friend (well, it's so difficult to find shorts that fit properly nowadays).

But did they know a photographer was lurking in the bushes? Were they papped or posing? You decide!

Singing in the rain?

Susan Sarandon looked positively distraught at being caught in the rain at last night's Speed Racer premiere. But it's London! It's April! What kind of weather were you expecting, Suse?

Still, maybe the Oscar-winner was just irritated at having to carry her own umbrella. After all, co-star Christina Ricci got a little man to hold hers for her...

National treasure Sir Ian McKellen wasn't taking any chances, though. As you can see from this pic, the sensible actor opted for a medium-sized umbrella hat, but kept another massive brolly open next to him at all times...

Meanwhile, across London... an absent-minded Amy Winehouse left her house without an umbrella, so had to compromise with the old bag-on-top-of-the-head trick instead...

Remember how I asked you to guess who'd be the next unexpected guest at Amy Winehouse's pad?

Well, we have our answer, folks: last night saw old-enough-to-know-better party girl Sadie Frost bowl up to the singer's house at 2am.

Funnily enough, Amy was still awake and happy to receive house-guests - having been out on another action-packed night in Camden, with a bunch of mates.

According to the frankly horrified paparazzi, Amy "pulled bizarre facial expressions and sniggered uncontrollably" during the short walk home from the pub. Well, at least the gurning adds some variety to your photos, fellas.

Meanwhile, despite all her woes, Amy's just been included for the first time on this year's Sunday Times young music rich list - with an estimated fortune of £10m. I wonder what she spends it all on...

And now for another in our occasional series: "I never knew they were friends!"

The latest odd couple? It's tabloid regular Amy Winehouse and ex-EastEnder James Alexandrou - aka Martin Fowler. The former soap favourite was spotted calling round at Amy's north London flat yesterday afternoon.

He then spent several hours in Amy's company - but headed off mid-afternoon, when the singer went to visit her husband, Charlie Cotton lookalike Blake Fielder-Civil, in prison.

Recent visitors to Ms Winehouse's pad have included Pete Doherty, Mark Ronson and Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace. Who's next, d'you reckon?

Aisleyne: "Leave Amy alone!"

Remember how Big Brother "babe" Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace was recently spotted calling round at Amy Winehouse's pad?

Well, now Aisleyne has spoken out about their unlikely friendship via the hallowed pages of OK! magazine. The gist? Amy's just an ordinary girl, and we should all get off her back.

"She's just an amazing girl, a normal girl and we had a lot in common," says the oh-so-modest Aisleyne. "She didn't seem troubled at all. People say things about me all the time that aren't true. She's just an amazing, talented girl. I think people scrutinise her so much. Why can't we just appreciate her for what she is?"

Meanwhile, Amy's been back in the recording studio this week - and was pictured playing with a friend's baby during a break.

So is Amy just misunderstood? Should the press follow Aisleyne's advice and leave Ms Winehouse alone for a while? Tell us what you think.

Amy to launch fashion range

Yes folks, it's true! You too could soon look like this - because Amy Winehouse has announced plans to launch her own clothing and make-up collection.

"Amy's style has been copied by girls around the country and there's a lot of money to be made," says a friend/accountant. "It's a very distinctive look. She wants to bring out a range of cosmetics and fashion products. There could be hairspray, head scarves, liquid eyeliner, perfume..."

Hmmm... what exactly will the perfume smell like, do you suppose? And why stop with the eyeliner and head scarves? We want wigs! Fake tattoos! Cigarettes! Incarcerated husbands! Oh no - hang on...

Still, if it was good enough for Kate Moss and Lily Allen, it's good enough for our Amy - and the Winehouse look could be big on the streets this summer. But would you like to dress like her? Tell us what you think.

The world's least sexy?

Sometimes, when I'm taking a break from stalking Britney Spears and spying on Victoria Beckham, I like to stroll round the streets of Penge, pretending to be Sarah Jessica Parker in the opening credits of Sex and the City.

I get dressed up in the most ridiculous mismatched clothes I can find - an off-the-shoulder ballgown worn with thigh-length golf socks and a pair of moonboots, for example - then wander up and down the high street, gazing in awe at the buildings and imagining I can see full-length posters of me-me-me on the side of the 197 bus to Peckham. It makes me feel really attractive and special.

But - hang on! - what's this? Apparently, SJP has just been voted the world's least sexy woman. That's right: all that careful styling has gone to waste because the readers of Maxim magazine don't rate her. Still, the SATC star was given a close run for her money by Amy Winehouse, who was described as having a "rat's nest mane and lashes that look like surgically attached bats." Britney and Madonna also made an appearance in the poll.

So are Maxim's readers right? Are Sarah and Amy really the world's unsexiest women, or would someone else get your vote? And who'd top your list of unsexy men? Post your comment below...

Amy is arrested

It’s been reported that Amy Winehouse was arrested in Norway last night on suspicion of drug possession.

The singer, currently on a European tour, was staying at the Radisson Hotel in Bergen when staff smelt the unmistakable aroma of marijuana coming from her room and alerted the police.

Both Winehouse and her darling husband Blake Fielder-Civil were allegedly detained in separate cells and released at 7am this morning with a fine of £350.

A police spokeswoman said: "She is no longer at the station. We found a small quantity of marijuana in her room. A small team of local officers were involved. Both individuals were very co-operative."

Full details of the occurrence are as yet unconfirmed – but if Amy’s first gig on the tour in Germany a few days ago is anything to go by, she is struggling. She tripped and staggered as she walked on stage and forgot the lines of the opening song, her cover version of The Zutons' ‘Valerie’. She is due to due to perform tonight at Bergen’s Peer Gynt venue.

Will she make it to the end of the tour in one piece, I wonder?
