Rihanna’s the Woman of the Year!
Posted by Jane Murphy
Oooh - doesn’t Rihanna look glamorous?
As well she might - because the singer was among the 10 women honoured at last night’s Glamour Women of the Year Awards in New York.
Rihanna was presented with the Back-on-Top Superstar gong - partly because of her bravery in speaking out about domestic violence and encouraging other women to do the same.
Supermodel Iman, who presented the award, told the audience: “This year, we saw a different face of Rihanna. She’s an indelible image of worldly pain and now, more than ever, I am more than impressed with her honesty and courage.
“She has taken her own scars and used them to create a new story of strength and awareness.”
Other stars honoured at the event included fashion designer Stella McCartney, writer and poet Maya Angelou and US First Lady Michelle Obama, as well as several very deserving medical experts and charity campaigners.
Hmmm… Glamour’s US ceremony is all very nice and worthy - but it’s not quite the same without Lily Allen being carried out drunk or Kirsty Gallacher in a see-through dress, is it?

let's not kid ourselves. If she was so brave & courageous why didn't she press charges against Brown?

Fair play to Rihanna I say. If everyone is as celebrity-obsessed in this country as we are led to believe, then we need role models like her to take a stand against domestic violence. Then people might think twice.

I really feel for sufferers of domestic violence, and it was very brave of her to speak about it, but it must be a little confusing for her fans, I know she is no longer with chris now, but didnt she briefly get back with him not long after the attack?!
