Kanye West: America’s biggest jackass?
Heavens to Betsy - can you believe all the fuss about Kanye West’s misbehaviour at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards?
To recap, 19-year-old country singer Taylor Swift was seconds into her acceptance speech for the Best Female Video gong - when Kanye jumped on stage, grabbed the microphone and declared that Beyoncé’s video was “one of the best of all time”.
Naturally, he received a round of boos for his efforts - and promptly became the topic of many angry celebrity Tweets. An example? Pink declared him the “biggest piece of s*** on Earth”. Ouch! Oh, and rumour has it that Barack Obama called him a “jackass”, which seems to sum up the situation quite succinctly.
But fast-forward 24 hours, and an apparently repentant Kanye appeared on Jay Leno’s late-night talk show to admit he'd been rude and now deeply regretted his actions:
Now, I have to admit I did start to feel a bit sorry for him halfway through that interview. After all, we’ve all done daft things after a few drinks then regretted it the following morning, haven’t we? It’s just that most of us don’t do it in front of 27 million TV viewers.
But then Taylor popped up on yesterday’s The View and revealed that Kanye hadn’t yet apologised to her in person.
“He hasn’t personally reached out or anything - but if he wanted to say hi, I would,” she insisted. “I’m not going to say that I wasn’t riled by it. I had to perform live five minutes later so I had to get myself back to the place where I could perform.”
Well - surprise, surprise - shortly after this on-screen revelation, Kanye did call Taylor to apologise. “He was very sincere in his apology, and I accepted that apology,” Taylor later told ABC News Radio. And asked if “going down the road, everything will be alright between you guys”, Taylor replied: “Yeah, definitely.”
Hmmm… perhaps they’ll get together to make a charity record and accompanying video now. Although, of course, Beyoncé would do it so much better…

i reckon hat taylor swifts music is good and something different and dont get me wrong i love beyonce 2 but taylor deserved that award and an idiot like kayne that can't even handle a few drinks had no right to take her special moment away from her, he should be down right ashamed of what he did!!

Kanye who? Perhaps he can flat share with Chris Brown.

I thought he was out of order just coming on stage like that, it was a big moment for her, especially being in the same catagory as Beyonce and he ruined it. Beyonce was the bigger person though and showed it by letting Taylor have her moment on stage later in the evening. I wouldn't have said though that her video that won was anything out of the ordinary though. He is an idiot though and done himself no favours there.

I felt really sorry for Taylor Swift, she will remember this moment for all the wrong reasons - he really made a pr*tt of himself and is deservedly getting some stick about it - he is just like Katie Price - trying to get some publicity one way or another.
Posted by: happynow | 17 September 2009 at 11:12
Well, at least he's apologised, and he's admitted his action's were wrong.

No talent and no manners - respect breeds respect man

This just proves that he's a legend in his own living room and nowhere else! The best stage invasion was Jarvis Cocker when he ruined Micheal Jacksons impersonation of Jesus at the Brits!

What an idiot.
Sadly this is all too common nowadays; Fools seems to be profiting from their foolery

He was a total douche-bag for doing that to her - kind of reminded me of the 'South Park' episode 'Fishsticks'.

Complete fool.
Huge chip on he's shoulder.
Wish when Taylor came back on she'd had a dig @ him

Kanye's just a publicity hungry idiot...nothing new there, but it was a very harsh step to ruin a 19yr old girls acceptance speech in that way. Nice to see Beyonce call her out later on when she collected an award, although i would imagine that was probably set up by the people running the show backstage...If not, kudos to Beyonce.

Yo. I'm really happy for you, I'mma let you finish, but O2 has one of the best mobile phone networks of AHL TAHM.

He is an egostistical P~ick, he did something similar at another awards when he wasn't the winner, claiming he should've been. Anything to get noticed. Stupid little man.

I was disappointed by Kanye. I thought he'd do something interesting like krap on the stage then give the resulting pile some free product placement

I thought it was great entertainment. After all, that is the business they are in. Really made me laugh!
