Peaches hangs out with the grown-ups
Posted by Jane Murphy
Blimey! Is it that time of year again already?
Last night saw veteran broadcaster Sir David Frost throw his annual star-studded garden party in Chelsea - with its usual eclectic guest list comprising national treasures, shamed politicians, minor Royals and international spoon-benders.
However, as far as the tabloids are concerned, top billing went to headline-grabbing father-and-daughter team Bob and Peaches Geldof.
According to the Daily Mail, the pair fell out earlier this year over Peaches’ penchant for wearing skimpy outfits - but they’ve obviously patched things up now (including her clothes, presumably). Phew!
Also in attendance? Tara Palmer-Tomkinson was a vision of loveliness, and managed not to flash her knickers for once…
Jolly good!
Sir Michael Caine and his wife Shakira showed up - despite the fact that not a lot of people knew that they’d be there (sorry!)…
And Sir David made an effort to trot out his old “Hello, good evening and welcome” line to as many of his guests as possible - including everyone’s favourite party-loving duchess, Sarah Ferguson…
They look rather good together, don’t they? Forget Phil and Fern! I want to see Fergie and Frostie on This Morning.
Meanwhile, Uri Geller took time off from dolling out soundbites about Michael Jackson to put in a low-key appearance…
Let’s hope the party cutlery was plastic - or Uri could have got right on everyone’s wick…
Other guests ranged from the nice-to-see-you (Bruce Forsyth, Joanna Lumley, Ronnie Corbett, Felicity Kendal) to the what-the-hell-is-he-doing-here? (Jeffrey Archer, David Mellor) - but it seems a good time was had by all.
By the way, if you’re too young to remember who David Mellor is, don’t bother asking your parents - it’s a sad and sorry tale, and best left well alone.
