Has the Cheryl backlash begun?

Hmmm… can anyone else smell the whiff of a Cheryl Cole backlash in the air? For the past 18 months or so, she could do no wrong - but I’ve noticed a few sniffy comments about her in the press over recent weeks.
An example? Well, our old mates at the Daily Mail have just published a 10,000-word (or thereabouts) “think-piece” on how Chezza has turned herself into a “human Barbie”.
How so? Well, apparently, she’s “spent £4,000 a year on hair extensions, £9,500 on her smile - and £36,000 on an exercise bike“. (Except - as the newspaper points out much further down the copy - she didn’t actually buy the bike. It was a gift from Harrods three years ago. And she doesn’t use it any more.)
Still, even the celebrity weeklies seem to have been laying into Cheryl for her recent fashion choices.
Heat’s comment on the £4,000 Alexander McQueen frock she wore to her birthday party last week? “Dancing on Ice called - they want their dress back!”
Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph’s fashion director Hilary Alexander sniffs: “Isn’t a girl constantly showing so much flesh just starting to look the teensiest bit desperate? She should save it for the bedroom.” Me-ow!
So is all this cattiness just something to fill column inches while we wait for the next series of The X Factor to begin? Or have people genuinely started to tire of Cheryl? Tell us what you think.

Who is Cheryl Cole anyway? She is only with Ashley so that they can be an item - she enjoys being labeled "WAG" and she gets alot of money for being Mrs. Cole anyway! Most of the UK's celbs are cheap and tacky, with no sense or style at all!
And as for the other members of Girls Aloud - EVER HEARD OF FOOD or CLASS???
Yes Cheryl has her own career and has climbed Kilimanjaro for charity, but she is way too overrated! I can not stand her or the other skanks who go in a house, come out and take their clothes off to rocket to fame.
The UK has become to desperate and, as I have said before, a dumping ground where the media can pay people to show parts of the human body for huge salaries and for Jordans and Cheryls and Rooney's and Chantelles to become famous. I know about the Beckhams being British, but they went to the US and their career took off!

cheryl is an inspiration to all of us, she is a strong independant woman who givs ppl a second chance.ive done that but if she truely believes in him then thats hers to deal with,im goin thru a rough time and she is just a inspitation to everyone,she is such an amazing person and I just hope that I will be as strong as her when I am in the public eye coz the press coz slash her to pieces,sumthing needs to be done.they r gosssips that need to be put in their place. the world would be less threatend without the papers they r twisted ppl that are in touch with the devil.we need to get rid of them.she is one of the ppl i admire and the press is destorying her.leave her be.

I think she looks great. She is constantly in the media so why not want to look her best? She'd only get slagged off if she had no make-up on and tracky bottoms. She can't win either way!!

If it wasn't for Pete Waterman selecting her on POPSTARS THE RIVALS (dirty old man), no one would have known of Cheryl Tweedy, she would never have become a Mrs Cole, because put it this way, Ashley Cole wouldn't have looked twice at her seeing she was from a council estate .... wonders what fame and fortune does to one.....besides I don't think she ever went to school and got a proper education, no wonder it was so easy for her to throw a punch at a innocent black girl in A TOILET....bravo Chavy chezza.

I say good luck to her. For a long time now it is MEN that have allowed the likes of Katie Price, Cheryl Cole etc etc to have the media profile they have now and the money they have earned. If men continue to salivate over what is a beautiful, but false, vacuous personality, then we will have more and more of these so-called celebrities which is what's happening now. Women are being pressurised as usual to remain young forever, to aspire to these 'ideals' of womanhood which is plainly ridiculous and completely fake. Until the men who control the media start to love real women with real looks we are stuck with these ladies and it is our own fault. The media start to knock them down only after they have started to get old and they have moved on to the next bumped up/plastic woman to promote. I don't blame these women - crikey I bet they laugh out loud at the money they can earn at the expense of ridiculous male ideals/fantasies. Please do remember it is a 2-way street - they earn plenty of money doing what they do - good luck to them. When men have and promote a more realistic image of women in the media then and only then will equality truly have arrived. Until then sex sells because men like it and men control it. Some women are exploited by it and some make a fortune - but please don't tell me they are talented individuals because they clearly are not.

I think Cheryl is a lovely looking girl although a lot of it is fake but her latest birthday dress just looked cheap and desperate. She doesn't need to dress like that just for people to ogle her. It takes away her classy look because she can look a million dollars. Please don't do tat Cheryl it spoils you there are too many cheapies around.

Don't suppose she's invented a cure for cancer has she? No; thought not. So she's paid lots of money just for breathing, like so many other useless wastes of DNA today. Goes some way to explaining why the pyramid scam which was the world economy fell apart though, doesn't it. Remind me please ... why aren't the bankers responsible in jail instead of having billions of taxpayers money thrown at them ... which as usual they siphon off into their own back pockets. Cheryl Cole is extremely annoying, but are't all of the wannabe "celebrities"? The UK's celebrities are too overrated, unlike the big-time Americans, such as Celine Dion, Cher and Beyonce.
Footballers are also way too overrated and therefore they think they are so much better than everybody else. They should learn to live in the real world instead of doing coathangers with hair and kicking a ball for ridiculous sums of money. What has the UK came too - In my opion, a cheap destination wherte reject celeb's can be famous!

Cheryl is stunning, but the media just want to get their claws out. I think the media ought to realise that we no longer take what they say as fact!!

Cheryl's no fool,there is four other girls in the group ,and to get the kind of success they have in the music industry they must be doing something wright.Whether they write their own songs or not ,it dosent matter,Kids love them !grown females are jealous of them ,Men dream about them ,They still have to go out there and perform their stuff!,and its not easy, As a songwriter myself and musician, belive me it's a tuff life trying to make it work.I think Cheryl ,has got great energy , she can sing in key,she can dance,They are only jealous they haven't got what she's got ,God bless you Cheryl xxxx

Frankly I do not see what all the fuss is about. She really is nothing that special and neither are Girls Aloud come to that. Just another group. Nothing outstanding.

Awww i love Cheryl she is an inspiration to young people out there. My little cousin always comes up to me and say's do you think i look like Cheryl Cole. Cheryl cole has got nothing bad about her. to be honest with you there is really nothing bad to say about her. She has a wonderful singing voice, she is the best singer in the group. If she wants to spend money on her hair she can, all girls spend money on themselves to do their hair, make-up etc. Whats so bad about that seriously? It's just magazines trying to get the public's interest, when it's just not going to happen. Cherly you are Fabulous don't listen to what the press say's about you :). Can't wait to what the x factor again. Hope you win again to beat danni. Urghh u hate her danni m, she needs to be sacked of the x factor.

Cheryl, you wear the inside on the outside,I just hope you never change that for anything , it's your greatest strength and anybody who is empathic can see what you truly are from a mile away. you are the only reason i watch X-Factor , your baby browns and jordie accent , and the way cope with your life is an insperation to anyone that has sufferd any kind of mental health ,Just be what you are Cheryl,live your life ! its funny how every one is judging her and saying that i only know her from what shes made out to be from the press but thats the same for all you lot.
if you where given all the things she has you wouldnt be complaining at all.
shes a normal girl with money thats trying to live her life. its not her fault her dream was to be a singer and managed to actually get where she wants to be.

I used to live down the same road as Cheryl, im a bit younger so didnt really know her that well, but from what i did know she is lovely!! If i had that much money i would probably use it on similar things... holidays, nice house, car... looks! Makes me laugh when people in the media comment on 'looks' - who cares??? If you feel confident regardless whether money has paid for it or not, then isnt that whats important?? Not what some snotty reporter writes? Cheryl is a really nice person, and yes everyone makes mistakes, just a shame the media decide to focus on her when there are much worse people in the world!!!

i dont actually love her but from what i know of her (even if it is just what the press make her out to be) i like it. she is easy on the eyes and i love her voice.
i dont actually care what people think of her just like she most likely doesnt. every one lighten up a bit and stop taking life so seriously. shes on tv in mags shes every where. deal with it :)

Cheryl is a nice person, Iam glad that she has married Joe Cole because He is a good guy, even if He doeas play for chelsea.
When she was with Hearsay she was a bit fatter than she is now so I think she must have had a diet or lots of wory.
I watched her on American Idol and she had a right go at Sharon Osbourne but she deserved it.

jorden, you have serious problems. You obviously idolise this person, even claim to love her. YET YOU DON'T REALLY KNOW HER, only what the media have portrayed.
She isn't perfect, as shown by her violence towards another person. She is glammed up by hairdressers and make up artists, given dance moves by choreographers, singing is tweaked by producers, her photos are all professionally air-brushed.

yes her husband is a complete idiot. but thats her choice nothing i can do about that as much as i would love her to be with me :)
please can you not compare danni and cheryl as cheryl is at least human and not some plastic barbie doll (plastic surgery, botox and all that jazz)
i find it funny how so many people have bad things to say about cheryl and all the others but people who dislike these people still read about them and have an opion when they dont even like them.
i completely agree with some of your points but i love this women and the fact of how well shes done as she was once one of those people who she now judges.

Overpaid, underfed and over-rated.Saw her at X-Factor auditions in Manchester and was not impressed.In actual fact Dannii was far more attractive and interacted much more with the audience. Cheryl was just Simon's eye candy.

the term angel is used as a personal ref for her. she is human like every other person.
the fact she is giving her marriage a second chance is a good thing shows she actually loves him. with the fight i can not defend her and dont think she needs to be as she knows it was bad its not like she is walking around bragging about it. she made a mistake im not trying to make her to be a god but she has shown people can change and make something of them selfs.

not only was she gifted to look like an angel but she was given a personality that people respect. The press like to make any storey they can as they know people will read about people such as Cheryl Cole.
i think she is a good role model and some one people should look up to.
shes not in and out of rehab shes not doing anything wrong but enjoying her life and making the most of what shes been giving in life.
i dont think there are many people that wouldnt spend out on them selfs if they had the money to do so.
So till she does something stupid leave my angel alone :)

So now the media have decided that they should hate Cheryl after loving her for an age. The media really need to obstain from giving opinions, aren't they supposed to report facts?!?! For years they slated Michael Jackson for a thousand different reasons then he died and suddenly they are saying he was a legend and will be missed by everyone. The media needs to learn it can't just report public opinion, it needs to understand that it forms public opinion, people read media fabrications and suddenly because its the media saying it they feel it must be true. It's like a loose pebble setting off a landslide!

Maybe that time has already come.
But dont feel sorry for her, she must be smart enough to know that was the rule number 1. She will have her millions and cheating husband long after the media has dropped her.

I was thinking about Cherly the other day and how hard it must be, to be her. Ok she has a good superficial life but the pressure to maintain such popularity must be very hard psychologically. I put myself in her shoes and I would demand hideos pictures of me published, instead of airbrushed & polished ones. Less than perfect stories just to get the balance. The media have transformed her into a fantasy figure and she's a normal person. I wouldn't be surprised if she began to retaliate abit like Britney.. Go Cherly shave your head, you'll still be beautiful cos you've got personality (for now)..

Anyone spending substantial sums on money on beauty treatments such as Cheryl Cole would appear they way she curretly does....just go back on her first chav pics when she joined Girls aloud! not a great look!! She is beautiful and looks so glamourous, but who wouldn't after spending 100K

The most genuine of personalities, stunningly pretty, amazing figure, gorgeous friendly smile and eyes to melt any mans heart. Whats not to like about Cheryl? Unless of course you're a fat, ugly, jealous newspaper fashion director who's better off hidden away in the office. The only thing not to like about Cheryl is her choice of husband.
