Simon admits mistakes over SuBo

Blimey - is hell about to freeze over? Simon Cowell has ‘fessed up to making a few errors of judgement over the “Susan Boyle situation” during the filming of Britain’s Got Talent.
“Looking back on it all, it’s become clear to me that we didn’t handle the situation with Susan as well as we could have,” he wrote in Saturday’s Daily Mail. “Yet, to be honest, I don’t know that I could have done it any differently.”
So what did he think of SuBo when he saw her first audition? “I thought she had come over well, but not sensationally. “I certainly didn’t think, ‘Here comes a phenomenon who is going to become the most famous woman in the world - I wonder if she can mentally cope with it?’ I thought she looked a bit eccentric and certainly a character, but that was all.”
Simon says it wasn’t until the semi-finals that the strain started to show on Susan - and he began to get worried calls from the production team.
He continues: “Then during the final show, at the crucial point when Diversity won, I looked over at her face and thought: ‘Christ, she doesn’t know how to deal with not winning.’ It was a bad moment.”
So could Simon and the BGT team have done more to support Susan from the start? Does the high-trousered music mogul really care about her - or is he just concerned for his own professional reputation? Tell us what you think.

It's a sad thing when we have to have psychological profiling carried out for talent contests! 'Love your singing darling but are you mentally capable of being in the limelight?' I don't think the show can be blamed.
I always felt that all the judges were sympathetic towards her as well as Ant & Dec. Hopefully now people will keep a closer eye on her. However the real question for me is why are we still so embarrassed by any wiff of mental illness? Susan's problems have been called 'fatigue' 'not eating well' - when actually I wondered if she was a bit manic (as in bi - polar disorder). If so why not say so and move on?

I thought Simon was very nice to Susan Boyle as well as the other contestance who did not make it, she should be very pleased that she had the oppertunity to show the country what she could do!!
