The world’s most powerful celebrity?
Posted by Jane Murphy
Those unstoppable list-makers at Forbes magazine have just unveiled their Celebrity 100 - an annual rundown of the most powerful stars in the world. And topping the list for the first time, it’s… Dean Gaffney.
Oh no - I tell a lie. It’s actually Angelina Jolie, who’s set tongues wagging across the US by knocking Queen of Everything Oprah Winfrey off the No.1 spot.
So why Ange? “In addition to nearly doubling her earnings in the past year - from £9m to £16m - Angelina is the most famous star on the planet,” says the magazine’s senior editor Matthew Miller.
“She is in the dialogue of popular culture nearly every day - for her acting, for her relationship with Brad Pitt, for her children and for her philanthropic endeavours. All of this exposure leads to an extremely powerful celebrity brand.”
Meanwhile, Brad made it to No.9 on the list - one place behind his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston. Ouch!
So is Ange really the most powerful celebrity in the world? Or are lists like this just a load of old twaddle? Tell us what you think.

So she "stole" someone elses husband.
so what?
she also contributes a great deal too charity, is a fantastic actress and is raising a wonderful family.
but ofc this is overlooked, much preffering to look at the fact that Brad would rather be with her than Jen.
The guys to blame, not the women!

Angelina, she is a very lovely person, I alway pray to be like her. she has a heart of GOLD. she is soo wonderful, word can not express how wonderful and touching she had been to many life. she is really a blessing and I pray that God in his mercy will continue to bless and protect her. if I am bless like Angel, I will be a blessing to the poor and needy, just like her.

Seriously I think lists like this are a load of twaddle. Power is not measured in just monetary sense or in how large a group of people you have working for you. I am unsure what being "in a dialogue of popular culture" means!!! It seems a rather patronising statement - is it that we poor motals don't have any cultural enjoyment or aspirations? I think Matthew Miller and Forbes magazine can ram their opinions - too superficial for my liking.
