Lily: ‘SuBo is overrated’

As much as I like Lily Allen, I do feel she could start an argument in an empty room sometimes.

The latest? Our Lils has committed treason of the highest order by suggesting that national treasure/tabloid darling Susan Boyle isn’t necessarily the best singer in the whole world.

Lily wrote on her Twitter page: “I thought her timing was off on Britain’s Got Talent on Sunday - no control, and I don’t think she has an amazing voice.

“She can sing, but it’s not about talent with her, is it? She seems like a lovely lady but if the show is about talent, that Shaheen kid should win.”

I meet lots of people like Susan Boyle at competitive Music Festivals - we do it for fun and a sense of achievement. I'd heard OF Lily Allen but never actually HEARD her, I looked her up on YouTube and lasted 28 seconds - what a horrible noise, our cat sounded better.

Good luck to Susan Boyle in future but get your hair done properly and speak in more comprehensible way; but then no-one would take any notice of you.

I totally agree with Lily. And if susan has had vocal voice training, for several years as you point out, then she should be better then she is. She is NOT the best in the competition, and truly, Shaheen does have a better voice then her. Lily Allen isn't the best singer in the world either, but her song's aren't about the talent in her voice, there about the lyrics and thec catchiness of the songs. Susan boyle wouldn't be able to do that because her voice is not that type, and she simply doesn't have the look, which means she would have to win people over with her pure vocal talent alone, which is simply not good enough. She is overrated because of her looks. If she looked like a normal 20 year old girl, no-one would care and she probably wouldn't have even got through.

I agree with Lily that Susan was slightly off timing on Sunday...she definately needs some vocal training. Also I am sure I am not the only one that has noticed but she seems a wee bit slow, and I do feel the whole experience is passing her by. Susan is the perfect example of don't judge a book by its cover and sure she can sing pretty well.
I just get the feeling that sooner or later, all the media attention surrounding her is gonna go to her head, I can see her getting a bit smug.

I totally agree with Lily. She is an amazing singer, and writes her own songs. Thats more than Susan Boyle could do. She is over-rated, thanks to youtube and the media. If she didnt look like she does then she wouldnt have all of this publicity. Her first audition was breath-taking, but i dont think that the live show was very good. She started off in the wrong key, and by the end it sounded like she was shouting and screaming. I dont think that she needs to win bgt, shes going to be famous and most probably going to get signed anyway. Im going to be voting for Shaheen, he has real talent.

Having grown up around classical singers and musical productions,I have to say that although Susan Boyle has a pleasant voice, she isn't the huge talent that the media have made her out to be. It's the rags to riches idea that appeals to the public and the fact that her appearance made expectation very low. I wish her well but feel it unfair if she were to win BGT.
