Kerry goes back on GMTV

Posted by Jane Murphy

Kerry Katona

What better way to start the day?

I wolfed down my tea and toast this morning while watching Kerry Katona give her first live TV interview since that infamous appearance on This Morning last October.

This time, an upbeat Kezza was quizzed by GMTV’s Mr Nice Guy Andrew Castle - and appeared alongside a clinical psychologist, who was able to offer expert insights into Kerry’s bipolar disorder.

So what’s new? Well, Kerry still seems very hurt and upset by the criticism she’s received over her This Morning appearance. She also admitted she’d skipped taking her medication last night for fear of slurring her words again today.

You can see what else happened here:

Now, I’m certainly not Kerry’s biggest fan - and I’d rather watch paint dry than sit through her MTV reality show - but I do feel we should all cut her some slack and show a little more understanding where her illness is concerned.

But could she really be a role model for fellow sufferers? Or is it time for her to stop living her life in the public eye?

Tell us what you think.

couln't really care about kerry!!!! If she wants her normal life back then she should get rid of that disgusting boyfriend she has, he is no good for her or any human being!!!!! she should chuck him and concentarate on sorting her life out

I am an avid celeb watcher. I enjoy reading and watching all the antics that various celebs get up to. I can not take to Kerry; how can she complain about being slammed by the press and public and yet insist on making everything about her life public interest. If you or I split with a fella and didn't want everyone to know the ins and outs you wouldn't tell anyone. I SAY IF YOU WANT THE FAME TAKE THE S**T

my both parents suffer with bioplar its a horrible disease and ive seen it in different spectrums. i just hope that some1 helps kerry really soon i watched her mtv programe and found it disturbing 2 watch and as for her mother well what can i say? i think if she didnt have mark her husband and her mother around her constantly knocking her down i think her mind would be in a better place. i feel sorry for her

Why cant she be a roll model ?? Dont see anyone else stepping up for the position. If her cleavage upsets some people then she can be a role model for those with bipolar and glamour model dress sense.
At the end of the day i hadnt even heard of the condition till britney spears and kerry came along .

Listen people, she is unwell, it's a disease, so stop saying she was DRUNK!!! Let me be honest, i really don't like her, but telling lies about something serious is stupid! That's just like saying if someone has tourettes is just playing around, you just wouldn't because it's a serious disease that can't be helped! God, just Leave her be!

Whilst I think mental health illnesses should be brought more to public attention and that it is important to increase public awareness and understanding of conditions such as Bi-polar, I do not agree with having Kerry Katona as a role model, particularly when she is jiggling around on the sofa exposing so much cleavage, and at times looking as if she might fall out. Now this exposure may or may not be linked to her bi-polar condition. However, if she was to dress less revealing maybe viewers would be more likely to take her seriously. I used to work in the field of mental health and work with a variety of conditions including bi-polar disorder, and one of the tendencies were for some of the women to over expose themselves in dress. However, the staff always aimed to encourage the clients to dress in a respectable manner and maintain dignity in their appearance. I always felt that women who exposed their cleavage on TV looked very tacky and undignified - and even some of those without a mental health condition have done this! However, I think a better role model would be one who has bi-polar condition and appears to some how manage coping with the illness, that would inspire other suffers, not someone like Kerry who uses the media for sympathy and ends up getting bad press for it!

feel sorry for anyone with problems, however, if she doesnt want to be criticised then she should stay out of the public eye, she is a sitting target for the press. Role model.... no thanks

give the girl a break!

I am Bipolar and have suffered with the illness for 15+ years and some of the medications we take are pretty heavy going - there are many horrible side effects and slurring could genuinely have been one of them if her meds have a drowsiness effect and I think she does deserve the benefit of the doubt this time. However, I don't think she is a good role model for BiPolar sufferers. Whilst it's good it's more in the public eye and people are more aware of it, as only 1% of the population suffer with it, it is a very difficult illness and can affect people in different ways - what I absolutely abhor though is people using the illness as an excuse for bad behaviour. Yes, some of our actions are erratic if high and distressing when low, but not all of it is attributed to the illness - some of it is still personality!!!

Give the poor woman a break. Noboby knows that she was drunk it is purely speculation and as to her bipolar illness the symptons suffered by one person are not necessarily those suffered by another. I personally am not a huge fan of Kerry's but it is time to leave the poor girl alone.

Don't think i could publicise myself if i had any kind of mental illness - like they say - there's such a stigma .
Bipolar must be a horible thing to live with and sometimes worse for those closest to the sufferer. It's a real shame for someone like Kerry who was once a singer and a pinup - not my choice of career but she was doing well out of it and reasonably regared by the public . Now she's just a object of attack .
And hey - even if she was drunk last time ... many a celeb has appeared pi$$ed in front of a camera and been glamourised for it .
I wonder if she were a bloke if the same things would be said ????

Kerry who? ......

I have bipolar and kerry is far from a role model. She makes me so angry when she blames the fact that she is drunk etc on her 'bipolar'.

self-medicated or prescribed high? history repeated? give the kids a chance

I don't care...........
