Who joined The Damned United?

Posted by Jane Murphy

 Michael Sheen, Timothy Spall

Last night saw the London premiere of The Damned United, the new movie about football legend Brian Clough's doomed 44 days in charge at Leeds United in 1974.

Among the many familiar faces milling around in Leicester Square were the film's stars Michael Sheen and Timothy Spall, who play Cloughy and his faithful assistant Peter Taylor respectively.

Also in attendance? Bianca Gascoigne, who - as I've come to realise recently - would turn up to the opening of an envelope.

Mind you, Bianca is the stepdaughter of another troubled footie legend Paul Gascoigne, so maybe this film had a little more resonance for her. Or maybe she just fancied posing for the paparazzi in a low-cut dress. Who knows?

Meanwhile, Gabby Logan - daughter of former Leeds player Terry Yorath, fact fans - got the gig interviewing the stars on the red carpet...

And ruddy-faced fashion fascist Susannah Constantine showed up, despite not being related to any footballers...

Other celebrities at the premiere included Harry Potter star Emma Watson, ex-EastEnder Louisa Lytton, former chat show host (and die-hard Barnsley fan) Sir Michael Parkinson and seasoned sports commentator Tony Gubba.

If my memory serves me correctly, this may be the first time Mr Gubba's been mentioned on this blog. Better late than never, Tony! Wear a see-through dress or get a silly haircut and I'll give you a shout-out tomorrow, too.
