Look out, Beyoncé!

Eek! Soul diva Etta James has publicly threatened to "whop Beyoncé's ass". Now that's not very nice, is it?
So what's the problem with Great-aunt Etta? Well, it seems the 71-year-old singer has taken exception to Beyoncé performing her song 'At Last' at Barack Obama's inauguration.
During a recent show at Seattle's Paramount Theatre, Etta ranted to the audience: "You know your president, the one with the big ears? Wait a minute - he ain't my president! I tell you: that woman he had singing for him, singing my song, she gonna get her ass whopped. The great Beyoncé! I can't stand Beyoncé."
Ah, that's a shame - particularly as Beyoncé plays the young Etta in new movie Cadillac Records, which is out in the UK next month. It should be interesting if they both come to London for the premiere.
Incidentally, by the time Ms James had a hit with 'At Last' in 1961, the song had already been recorded twice - by Glenn Miller in 1941 and Nat King Cole in 1957.
Hmmm... I wonder if Nat wanted to "whop Etta's ass" for stealing his song...

Etta James should draw this out as long as possible, it might help her sell a few more records

silly old moo, she's envious, and frightened of growing old, poor love. Look how tragically US women try to retain their youth....but, they probably have a better time of it than older women do here in this country......
Understandably, she was upset that Beyonce got the gig , with "her" song......but to lash out.....?
NOT dignified, dear, act your age !!!

I wonder if she wanted to 'whop' Eva Cassidys ass too when she did a version of 'at last'!
Anyone who's heard it will know it was an amzing cover. I have a real pet hate of 'cover songs' but you can't whinge about someone singing 'your song' when it wasn't 'yours' in the first place!
