Who's got the most specs appeal?

Guess what? Another set of celebrity survey results has just been unveiled - and ubiquitous poll-topper Cheryl Cole doesn't feature anywhere in the Top 10. Surely some mistake!

Mind you, the new Specsavers poll set out to find the world's most iconic specs-wearers - and our Chezza doesn't actually wear glasses. So instead, the proud title fell to Sir Elton John - who beat off... er... stiff competition from late Beatle John Lennon. (No pun intended there - honestly!)

Other notables in the Top 10 included Johnny Depp - a fine spectacle of a man if ever I saw one - who came way down the list at No.9, behind Timmy Mallett (arrrrgh!), The Queen (gawd bless her!) and possibly the funniest man who ever lived Eric Morecambe (hurrah!)...

At this point, I would normally write a glowing endorsement of Sir Elton's specs-wearing prowess. But the legendary showman has just given a very angry interview to The Sun, in which he says the internet should be "shut off".

"The internet has stopped people from going out and being with each other, creating stuff," he rants. "Let's get out in the streets and march and protest, instead of sitting at home and blogging."

Righto, Elton - I'm logging off right now and heading out on to the streets of Penge with my home-made protest banners. Just one thing, though... Does anyone know what I'm supposed to be protesting about?
