Cheryl Cole is 'most wanted best friend'

Nowadays, it's very rare for a week to pass without Cheryl Cole topping a new poll.

In fact, it's now a legal requirement that all new surveys must feature her name with a box next to it - regardless of the subject matter. (The Americans have tried to hush it up, but our Chezza was actually just two votes away from beating Barack Obama to become the new US president.)

The latest? Cheryl has been voted the female celebrity who women would most like as a best friend, in a new survey by market research company OnePoll.

"She'd make a great best friend," says a misty-eyed spokesperson. "She might be a famous singer and TV star, but she still comes across as being a normal girl you could have a good night out and gossip with."

Jennifer Aniston and Davina McCall took second and third place respectively.

And just behind them, Fearne Cotton proved slightly more popular than her real-life best friend Holly Willoughby, who came in fifth.

Strange, I always thought a 'best' friend is someone who would always be there for you, especially when you REALLY need them to be. I can only assume that the only people who actually did the survey were the 'best' friends of the celebrities.

I know one thing for sure it definitely wouldnt be Paris Hilton. The Americans can have her back. Yea Jennifer Ainston would be cool. But Ferne Cotton would do my head in shes so fake!
