The X Factor: where are they now?

Posted by Jane Murphy

Diana Vickers

While Britain's latest national treasure Alexandra Burke was busy giving gushing TV and radio interviews yesterday, some of her former X Factor colleagues were out and about, too.

Diana Vickers, for example, made a much-touted personal appearance at Carphone Warehouse in Preston. Yep, it was the gig everyone wanted - but Diana nailed it.

Meanwhile, Ruth Lorenzo looked positively blooming at the Help For Heroes ball in London...

Oh, and Austin Drage was there, too - although his outfit wasn't quite so... erm... eye-popping...

And in other X Factor news, Eggnog Earwig Eoghan Quigg has admitted meeting Diana was "the best experience" of his life.

"She's a really lovely girl and we have a strong bond together," he told Heat. "We'll just have to wait and see what happens." But then he had to go because his mummy called him in to do his homework and have his tea...

I know I mocked Diana and Eoghan throughout the show but I have to admit in the past few days I've really warmed to them both. Eoghan's exit was gracious and very selfless. He is VERY mature for a 16 year old boy. He was so, so sweet on ITV2! He's a really nice, charismatic lad and very funny, particularly in the backstage videos on the XF site. I feel bad for making fun of his voice/facial expressions/moves. Sure I'd have preferred the likes of Ruth, Austin and Laura in the Final 3 but Eggnog's not as bad as I made him out to be. He has a decent voice and gave it everything he had every week. Bless him. The moment he ran onto the stage and flung his arms around Diana sobbing was (although I laughed a lot) very, very moving and sweet. The choir singing that line while Diana was in tears and the others embraced her created such a powerful, emotional little moment. They were really genuine tears. Brilliant TV! I loved it. As for Diana, ok I thought her jumpy yelps and croaks resembled a dying cat but when she sings softly without the throat yodelling, she has a really pretty pleasant voice. I knew she genuinely cared about Eoghan after watching the video of the two youngsters messing around. She kept saying, "I hate you Eoghan! I hate you" - the very same thing I used to say to the boy I had an overwhelming crush on lol. A few weeks ago I'd have thought the idea of these two together wrong (bc Eoghan looks so young) and fake on Diana's part (publicity) but they make the cutest pair. They are two kids in love (so to speak) and it's adorable. The instant I saw those photos of them kissing I said "awwwwww!" out loud rather than "eeeeew".

great blog it's good to see someone using a blog for what it is actually meant for look forward to seeing further comments.
