Who won the battle of the frocks?
Posted by Jane Murphy

Surprise, surprise! Elizabeth Hurley's eye-popping Versace gown - aka "that dress" - has topped a Debenhams poll of the greatest red carpet frocks of all time.
Just in case you need a reminder, Liz wore the über-revealing gown when she accompanied her then-boyfriend Hugh Grant to the London premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral back in 1994.
In doing so, she managed to steal the limelight from everybody else - even though she wasn't actually in the film and most of us had never even heard of her before that night. It's amazing what a plunging neckline and a few safety pins can do, isn't it?
Liz's frock beat off stiff competition from Audrey Hepburn's flower-bedecked Givenchy dress at the 1954 Oscars...

...and the vintage Valentino gown worn to the 2001 Oscars by Julia Roberts...

That Top 10 in full:
1. Liz Hurley's Versace dress (Four Weddings and a Funeral premiere, 1994)
2. Audrey Hepburn's Givenchy frock (Oscars, 1954)
3. Julia Roberts' vintage Valentino gown (Oscars, 2001)
4. Catherine Zeta-Jones's red Versace dress (Oscars, 1999)
5. Jennifer Lopez's plunging green Versace dress (Grammys, 2000)
6. Keira Knightley's one-shouldered Vera Wang dress (Oscars, 2006)
7. Kate Winslet's red flower-strap Ben de Lisi gown (Oscars, 2002)
8. Halle Berry's Ellie Saab net and embroidery-topped dress (Oscars, 2002)
9. Björk's Marjan Pejoski swan dress (Oscars, 2001)
10. Kate Moss's vintage Dior ripped gold gown (The Golden Age of Couture VIP Gala, 2007)
Ah yes, who could forget Björk's swan dress? Mind you, that look never really caught on, did it?
