Be afraid! Be very afraid!

As you're doubtless already aware, last night saw Animal Fair magazine's eighth annual Hallowe'en Pet Costume Party take place in New York.

Lindsay Lohan's mum Dina and 14-year-old sister Ali obviously don't have any pets to take along - so they went dressed as a couple of cats instead. As you do.

I reckon that one's worth about four out of 10 for effort - don't you?

And as for the rest of the guests... I have to admit I didn't have a clue who any of these people were when I first saw the pics, but I thought they were worth including for their, erm, dogged determination to impress.

Here's Jane Pontarelli and her dog Lulu...

Jane and Lulu are the society editors of Pet Society magazine.

Hmmm... they both sound barking mad, if you ask me.

And here's Animal Fair editor Wendy Diamond and her pooch Lucky...

Apparently, Wendy put that pumpkin on her head at the magazine's first Hallowe'en Pet Costume Party and hasn't been able to take it off since. Possibly.
