Stars in autograph ban

David Tennant and Patrick Stewart

I'm off to see the Doctor and Jean-Luc Picard - sorry, I mean David Tennant and Patrick Stewart - in the RSC's new production of Hamlet in a couple of weeks' time. Yeah, I know - get me!

But it seems theatre bosses aren't too keen on the prospect of overexcitable sci-fi fans descending on Stratford-upon-Avon, so they've set out a list of ground rules before the play starts its run.

Yesterday, all ticket-holders received a polite email, reminding us that the taking of photographs is strictly forbidden inside the theatre. Damn! And there I was, hoping I'd be able to get Dave and Pat to halt proceedings and pose for a nice cheesy shot with their arms round one another in the middle of the fight scene.

What's more, the RSC has announced that the pair won't be allowed to sign Doctor Who or Star Trek souvenirs at the stage door. "Only Royal Shakespeare Company or production-related memorabilia will be signed by members of the company," says a spokesperson.

Personally, I'm just hoping to witness some kind of "mods and rockers"-style stand-off between Doctor Who fans and Trekkies in the theatre foyer.

I'm also undecided about what to wear. Should I go with the Davros mask or Spock ears, do you reckon?
