George meets the Nancies

Posted by Jane Murphy

George Clooney and two Nancies

Poor George Clooney. The silver fox was waiting for co-star Renée Zellweger at last night's Leatherheads premiere in Leicester Square, when he was accosted by a bunch of giggling Nancies from the BBC's I'd Do Anything.

It's one of the downsides of being an A-list movie star. When you promote your film in London, you're contractually obliged to pose with the stars of whatever reality TV show happens to be airing in the UK at that time. It's even worse in the height of summer because then you run the risk of being upstaged by a Big Brother reject.

Anyway, you'll doubtless be relieved to hear the Nancies did eventually step aside to make way for a - very late - Renée, so George could pose with "one of his own kind" before heading into the cinema.

Mind you, rumour has it he didn't really know what was going on anyway - because he was still nursing a hangover from the night before. He's blaming old friend Mariella Frostrup for making him drink too much, apparently. What a wuss!
