Madonna moans about congestion charge
Posted by Stewart Turner

It seems nothing can dent Madonna’s determination to transform herself from sassy pop princess to whingeing white van woman. Now she’s been sticking her beak into the debate about London’s transport infrastructure.
Quite what a multi-millionaire who swans around our capital city in a chauffeur-driven limo knows about all this is anyone’s guess. Maybe she’s sick of handing Jeeves a tenner every time he enters the C-charging zone.
Displaying an amazing insight into the plight of our nation’s youth, Madonna told Q magazine: “I’d make it so that young musicians wouldn’t have to pay the congestion charge or taxes so they have more money for other things.”
Right on. Presumably young nurses or shop-workers would carry on paying the charge as normal?
Mrs Ritchie also said she won’t be voting for Ken Livingstone in the upcoming mayoral elections. “All Red Ken wants is roadworks everywhere”, she blathered. “I’ll just have to walk I guess.”
This, of course, is just the latest in a long line of Madge moans. She’s previously laid into our NHS hospitals (like she uses them), high fuel prices and traffic wardens. Give it another year and she’ll probably be presenting Top Gear.
What do you think? Does Madonna have a point or should she just belt up?

Groan, what is she on about she would have to walk everywhere, it wasnt so long ago she wanted the public footpath resitricted near to her palaital home, tell us old dear how we would use our legs then. She should think a bit more about previous comments she has made, look at the state of her from 1994 on the late show , u'll see just how pathetic she was then, i still think its double standards subjecting us to her in your face publicity and her horrid sex book, then going on about how kids are subjected to bad things on TV, yes have you guessed i cant stand this woman.

Ahhhh, have just seen the post from bigboy - he's right though - Australia may be large, but it has not got the money coming in from its citizens to pay for the transport infrastructure that the UK does.

Just out of interest, how does Australia feature in the equation? She's from America, not Australia! Poor old Aussies! When I was over there I thought they had a pretty good transport system - clean, on time etc etc.

Pull yourself together MAdge. Your loaded. What did you expect living under a dysfunctional Labour Government with socialist dreams. Move to Monte Carlo

Yes Louise. Your right!! Its people like you and me that make the difference. Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there who just mouth off about whats wrong with things in todays society however would never put any of that mouthing into action. This is a sad state of fact that in order to be heard you have to be a somebody. If madge had not let all the bleach that she has put on her hair over the years frazzel her brain cells she would instantley see what a GREAT BIG difference she could make by just being who she is. SO MADGE IF YOU EVER DARE READ THIS CAUSE YOU AINT GOT NOWT ELSE TO DO....STOP MOUTHING ABOUT IT AND GO AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!

Posted by: louise | 29 March 2008 at 10:02
THATS THE POINT THO,WHY IS SHE MOANING WHEN THESE CHARGES EFFECT US MORE THAN HER SHE HAS THE MONEY TO GET AWAY FROM THIS GOVERMENT MONEY-MAKING COUNTRY, IF THE REST OF US HAD HER MONEY CHARGES WOULDNT BE AN ISSUE BUT WE WORK HARD FOR OUR MONEY SO WE FEEL EVERY CHARGE, I AGREE WITH FOSSY SHOULD COULD HELP WHO REALLY NEED, AND TRY AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE, I KNOW I WOULD IF I COULD!!
Posted by: louise | 29 March 2008 at 09:58

Posted by: fossy | 28 March 2008 at 22:51
not directley in this report I agree however YOU READ again. I quote (ill just have to walk i guess) So yes I think the rest of the comments below mine are valid. That comment alone speaks volumes. She has gone fron car to walking not car to public trasport and then walking.

HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY READ THE REPORT ABOUT WHAT SHE SAID? SHE DID NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT PUBLIC TRANSPORT YOU FOOLS!SHE MOANED ABOUT...`THE CONGESTION CHARGES`!!!DUH!READ PROPERLY BEFORE YOU COMMENT.THE CHARGE IS RUBBISH COS THE UNDERGROUND AND BUSES ARE TOTALLY USELESS,DIRTY AND UNSAFE ON THE MOST PART,THAT IS WHY PEOPLE DRIVE,SORT OUT THE TRANSPORT THEN LESS PEOPLE WILL DRIVE BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT NEED TO!!!FAIR COMMENT BY MADONNA I THINK AND MORE OF US SHOULD COMPLAIN ABOUT THESE RISING COSTS AND CHARGES WE ARE ALL EXPECTED TO PAY RELENTLESSLY!I WORK HARD FOR MY MONEY AND RESENT GIVING IT TO A TWISTED GOVERNMENT ETC.

I say Madge next youll be telling us your thinking about joining the race to become an MP. I mean your nearly there,MOANING about the congestion charges and then having a pop about the NHS. If it really gets to you that much do something constructive about it and go and vent your frustration to the right people. Your on this Earth to make a difference or did that one completely by pass you while growing up. Looks like you got tooo much time on your hands. Go and offer yourself to the homeless and the less fortunate and dedicate the time you have to think about your selfish self to people who really need it!!! at least 2 days a week for the rest of your life. Now thats worth remembering you by.

Yeah she's got the English moan syndrome, that's for sure
( it's the weather don't you know ) but she has some points, however why she chooses to live here and not Bermuda or somewhere equal to her wealth is beyond me, if I had her millions I'd be out on the next plane! Providing Heathrow and terminal 5 was working of course ;o)

IF YOU DONT LIKE IT HERE,STOP WINGING AND MOANING AND JUST GO TO ANOTHER COUNTRY AND MOAN THERE.
Posted by: TH | 28 March 2008 at 15:58
this woman really does not have the right to say what she has, why is she moaning at all- when she doesnt even use public transport surely the people who have to put up with bad service and who rely on it have the right to moan, even then most of us have more important things to worry/moan about, that she wouldnt be able to even comprehend
Posted by: louise | 28 March 2008 at 15:36
Why the hell is anyone entertaining this woman!? What right does she have to moan about public transport in our country when she is just a visitor and as many of you have already commented, she doesn't use it anyway!
Posted by: Simon | 28 March 2008 at 15:06
Dear Madge, get a grip. Having visited the USA and seen its non-existent public transportation you really have no right to complain. Like you use it anyhoo..
Posted by: Jason | 28 March 2008 at 14:58
all of the transport systems that we saw/used in australia was just in sydney,im sure if they can have it in one city we might be able to improve it for a country
Posted by: big boy | 28 March 2008 at 14:50
good god madonna, u are turning into an old english moaning wench, looking like one too, think u better go back to la, used to be fan, now just long suffering.
Posted by: rocky7 | 28 March 2008 at 14:12
If we had a country the size of Australia perhaps we could have their system - remember we are only a little island although the amount of peolple coming into it you wouldn't think so. Perhaps if Madonna used public transport this might give her a right to comment.
Posted by: carol | 28 March 2008 at 14:01
im sure maddona would use the bus like the rest of us instead of paying to get in to the city!she does have to watch her cash!!i have just come back from australia from a holiday, public transport over there puts the uk to shame, communter trains in sydney where double deckers,no cattle truck transport like the tube!mono rails running round the city, decent buses, water taxis, public transport small ferrys, txt a bus and decent airports,it hit home when we got back to the uk,heathrow had no one to operate the bridge to the door of the aircraft so we waited 35 mins to get off!then the M1 was closed, welcome home!provide transport we would want to use and we may leave our cars at home!congestion charge more like failoure to provide decent alternatives!then charge joe public for it!
Posted by: bigboy | 28 March 2008 at 13:55
well, perhaps she should stick to talking about something she knows about like errr, um, errrrrr.....
