Heather Mills: celebrity mum of the year?

Although Heather Mills is busy in the messiest divorce battle of all time at the moment, she’s also one of 15 famous mothers nominated for the 2008 Celebrity Mum of the Year award.

Presumably the benevolent souls who put the former Mrs McCartney forward see her high-profile court clash as a brave fight on behalf of her four-year-old daughter Beatrice.

Elsewhere, it’s the Spice Girls v Hear’Say, with all the Spices apart from Mel C nominated (and we’re sure she would be if she was, well, a mother) and all three of the one-time Hear’Say girls fighting it out.

In alphabetical order, then, here’s the full shortlist: Mel B, Victoria Beckham, Fern Britton, Emma Bunton, Charlotte Church, Alex Curran, Kate Garraway, Geri Halliwell, Myleene Klass, Heather Mills, Kate Moss, Coleen Nolan, Katie Price, Kym Rider and Suzanne Shaw.

Why do so many people want to believe all the hype and hysteria around Heather McCartney? The papers never told anything but utter rubbish. Most have been sued at one time or another. The poor girl deserves a break. lets face it, she was never going to live up to Linda was she?! And who remembers the bad press Linda got when she first got involed with Paul?!!!! As for her rantings on the TV - who can blame her after what she has been put through. A saner person would have topped themselves for sure. Her daughter has a wonderful mother in Heather. She will grow up proud that her mother tried her hardest to fight the press and all their wrong doings. We should not judge her but support her. while this is a ridiculous award, it is despicable that you people feel you have the right to cast judgment on any of these women based on what the Daily Mail has told you. Heather Mills certainly appeared troubled in recent television interviews, but i do not know a single personal thing about her - i cannot judge her to be a good or bad mother. Marriage and divorce are very personal and complex issues and I cant understand why you would make presumptions based on so little information from such questionable sources.
