Going the extra mile...

As the prices at the forecourt seem to go up every week here are a five tips to squeeze a few more miles out of your petrol tank.

Petrol_17apr08_rex_250 Avoid excessive acceleration and violent braking.

Be in the appropriate gear for your speed.

Make sure that tyres presures are correct.

Reduce the weight of your vehicle by removing unnecessary clutter from the boot.

Improve aerodynamic performance - remove roof rack if not being used. Roll up windows when driving at speed.

After all - if reports are right we could all be paying up to £1.50 per litre for unleaded petrol during the summer. Shanks' pony anyone?
