Kapow! Jonathan has walked. He’d talked of it before and then changed his mind. Now, hearing his gran has died, he has a proper reason to leave. And fair enough, frankly.
I’m actually quite disappointed to see him go and I imagine the housemates will be, too, for about 15 minutes. Since Seany’s initial reaction - “It’s an old man! It’s an old man!” - he’s become an integral part of the group and also the only BB housemate in living memory actually capable of deadpan humour.
Jonathan, see, unlike the “I am just real, this is me” brigade, did genuinely say what he thought. Often with quite a nice turn of phrase as well, telling the twins they were “deliciously shallow”, describing Laura as a “deaf bulldozer” and, after Billi had said he didn’t catwalk, informing the preening hair-man, “You've been doing it for the last five days as far as I can see.”
And Charley? “Charley just irritates the hell out of me. There’s such injustice in everything she says and such a photoshoot opportunity in everything she does. Her utter ruthless selfishness is so consistent, but so consistently irritating.” Spot on!
It’s always good to have someone in the house who has enough awareness to step back, observe and say what the audience are thinking, but who can do so without being a Shabnam-style “am I famous enough yet?” self-conscious clodhopper. In some ways, he was like the Chorus in a Greek tragedy, or Terry Wogan at Eurovision.
Okay, maybe I’m rose-tinting it a bit now. Sometimes he was just your embarrassing shirtless uncle.
I thought e was really funny and I always thought he was funny when he said he wpuld pay to get Charley out. I also thought it wa very sad that he had to leave as I think he could of done really well in the game show. He is very missed. Its a shame he can't go back in. I would love to see him go back in and I think Carol could do with his company as well because it gave her omon to talk to.

I really liked Jonathon, he was a thoughtful man who just sat back and observed everyone..and i don't blame him! I personally don't think he went into the Big Brother house for fame but for some reason deep down inside him. I'm sure he would have a better explanation, but in any case all the best to him and his family! xx

I fougt Jonathon was a bit borin I mean all he did was sit there!!!! but I do fink that the reason he left was a understandin reason liam or 1 of the twins 2 win !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did like Jonathan but i know what he must be going through as i lost my grandmother earlyer this year and it still hurtfull so Jason go get a life

POOR JOHNNY i feel so sorry for him he was nice and it all right for JASON and the rest of the muppets who say he a sad act how would you like it if 1 of ur family died its the worst thing to happen to some one no matter how old a family member is speacilly ur grandma she the older generation

I liked Jonathan, his dead pan humour was straight to the point, putting into words what everyone else was thinking - but in a much funnier way. Obviously he feels he has to be with his family at this time.
On another matter I must be missing a whole lot of something, why did two people have a go at Jason's comment?
In addition, why can almost nobody on here write the English language properly?! That drives me nuts ... and I'm only 26!

Instead of moaning about the useless, aprupt people in the house like Nicky well actually at the minute thats about it ! You are rude about one of the only nice and helpful people in the house.
I'm sad he's gone, he was a lovely guy and didn't deserve how some people tret him ( Nicky )

i feel so sorry for him i didn't like him to start but he was ok after and funny at times
but his reason for leaving is reasonable and i would have walked if my gran died
and jason you need to get a life not all people are affected the same way if someone dies!!!!

Didnt like him at first but he grew on me.
He was genuine and spoke the spot on truth bout everyone.
I know he must be very upset bout his nan but it would be a lovely surprise if he was able to come back into the house (call it compassionate leave) It would mess up the irritating one's who couldn't rise above him, now thinkin they can carry on cos he aint there to make them question themselves!! Bring him back!!
